Certainly not for a guy who is already established in the majors and except for last year has been pretty damn good.

I really do think he's a cornerstone here regardless of the minor league SS stockpile.

I agree. Does that mean i can't see him playing a different IF position, sure, but with the cubs.

The obvious solution is that they'll all play SS at the same time.

Haha. Shifts are all the rage.

keith law casting dispersion on Baez, saying he takes ABs and plays off. Hangs out with the wrong crowd and doesn't work hard. Pointed to a play he made in the allstar game as proof. BURN THE WITCH

hmm...now buster is connecting the dots from the mariners to the rays through the cubs. (He says it's speculation)

quote:

TB wants a high-end position prospect for Price & the M's don't have 1 to give, Cubs would be a great fit as third team in deal

quote:

In other words (speculation), could work this way: Price could go to M's, M's send pitching to Cubs, Cubs send a position prospect to TB

So, for David Price the Rays would get Starlin Castro and that's it? Buster Olney is fricking high.

in his speculation, the rays are asking for a positional prospect, even as cheap as castro is, it's probably likely too much for the rays.

i think you misread.

he says its speculation.

my guess is they'd get a Baez. "position prospect"

cubs would get pitching from SEA. SEA would get price

No I understand all of that. I'm saying that the Rays' return of Starlin Castro or another position prospect from the Cubs (not named Bryant) is not enough for what the Rays are expecting to get for Price.

I guess I just don't like Buster Olney making shite up. Just report news. Don't fabricate it.

I think Baez and another piece would be a nice coup for them.

he made it clear 2x's it was speculation on his own part

the guy on MLB now just said the same type of trade. I dont know if he read Buster's tweet or what

I guess when talking about AL teams Voglebach becomes a name you can at least float around. Not really sure what the perception of him is though.

I know, but why "speculate"?

I expect a source from one side or the other (m's or rays) said they've talked a deal that involves price but the prospect return isn't there, but you know who has them, the cubs. So the cubs might never have even hinted at this or be considering it but buster's gotta do his job so it's enough to run with 'speculation' to generate discussion.

Just for fun, if 1.5 years of shark and .5 years of hammel is worth what we got, what's 1.5 years of price worth. I say about the same.

These boys better put on a show at Zephyr field in 10 days. Alcantara might even be back in AAA then too.
