What about trading for the half year rental of cueto. I don't know what they'd ask then buy a longer term option in the offseadon.

Please 8 Lb Baby Jesus, make the Cubs move him to the OF and just be done with it.

I understand lefty righty matchup but lift cogs for ross with the tying run at 2nd.

I can't wait for August or 2015 for the middle of our order be Rizzo Bryant and Schwarber.

Fowler CF
Rizzo 1B
Bryant 3B
Schwarber LF/C #2
Montero C
Castro SS
Soler RF
Russell 2B

I have no idea how we keep Montero and Schwarber in the lineup at the same time unless Schwarber plays LF. Do they plan on keeping Montero long term?

They traded for (granted it was mostly a salary dump by the dbacks) a guy signed through 2017 who isn't much of an upgrade (if any) than the catcher the had for his defensive upgrade, specifically pitch framing, so I would think they plan on keeping him through his contract.

I thought this was one of the dumber moves I have ever seen last night. It got even worse when he compounded it by lifting Denorfia for Mike fricking Baxter because the Indians brought a right hander in the game. Beyond dumb.

Yea. Follow up a head scratcher with a wtf? Best comment I saw on it was "hope Joe maddon is OK after his 8th inning stroke"

There are very few scenarios where I can justify lifting regulars for a ross/baxter trip through the order.

Doesn't this cup of coffee that Schwarber is having start his service time clock (Not sure on all of the rules for that)? If so, I think he goes to AAA after this stint and begins his switch to the OF. I may be wrong, but that's what it is starting to look like in my opinion.

I'm not sure if they ever mentioned where Schwarber would play in Iowa. I have to think that could be determined by his success in these five games. It looks like they will miss his bat when he goes back down, so it could make the Cubs put him in the OF even though Coghlan has been playing very well (which is a good thing, he's going to be a great 4th OF). Not to mention Iowa already has a roster full of catchers.

Theo said like two days ago that they are more convinced than ever schwarber can catch and catch for a long time in the big leagues.

Yes. Every day he stays up is an additional day he'd need to stay down in the minors next year in order to maintain the extra year of control.

So to keep it simple, my gorilla math understanding of it is, lets say he was up for 6 days like he will be, he doesn't get called back up at the end of the season, so next year it would be kris bryant's service date (again for simplicity purposes) plus 6 days.

Of course enough time has elapsed in this season that they could keep him up the whole year (they're not) and he'd not qualify for super 2.

you bump someone for him. If they really believe like they say they do, that he can catch in the bigs, you make room.

I mean, he goes down this year and he catches...maybe not 100% of the time, but at least 85% of the time. His bat would carry him with the cubs now, if we're going to make him a catcher he needs to log as many innings as possible to get him back up as quickly as possible.
