Just curious why you believe this should matter? It does not matter in any other sport. Why College Football?
Because its not like other sports. Other sports have playoffs. In this case the NC game is a selection. That's why its different from other sports.

It will really depend on the 1st place votes in the Human Polls. If Florida gets the majority of the 1st place votes in both polls, they will be in. If there is a 3 way split in either or OK gets an overwhelming majority of 1st place votes, there could be a problem for UF. Some voters may even put Penn. St, USC, or Utah number 1.
We will find out around noon.

Not really. It is a two team playoff. The two teams in this playoff are NOT being picked out of thin air. The selection process for the playoffs is just like any other sport.

Wow. Now that is a bizarre explanation.

Let's rank the best losses for the 1 loss BCS conference teams:
1) Texas Tech - 1 loss to OU on the road
2) Bama - 1 loss to Florida neutral
3) Texas - 1 loss to Texas Tech on the road
4) OU - 1 loss to Texas neutral
5) USC - 1 loss to Oregon St on the road
6) Penn State - 1 loss to Iowa on the road
7) Florida - 1 loss to Ole Miss at home
Florida clearly has the worst loss.

What matters is who they've beaten. I guess one year that concept will sink in.

I don't think UF wants to rely on that argument. Look at Texas, OU, and UF and UF has the least quality wins. The logic that Florida needs to rely on is that a)they just won the SEC by beating the #1 team in the nation and b)the SEC has won the last 2 national titles.

When did this become part of the BCS formula?

I agree, and that point is about 80% of what I am saying.

A nonconference winner should never get in without the conference champion getting in. In this case since OK would be the other team I have no problem with it in principle, but it's not going to happen this year. Situations like OK in 03 or Neb in 01 should not occur.

Which game SHOULD Texas go to? If they are not jumped when they're name is called to a BCS bowl the Flordia dibz should go up.
But which game is the game to watch for .. Fiesta???

Your premise was 'look at who Florida has beaten'. In all honesty (and I am a SEC homer) they really haven't beaten too many quality teams this year. Bama and UGA (which is a stretch) are about it. So it isn't about who Florida has beaten but instead about what the reputation of the SEC as a whole. This year's SEC is way down. That doesn't mean UF won't beat OU. But Texas does have a case over UF. That's for certain.

Dumbest two things I've read on the rant in a while. Did you see the OU TT game? How can that in any way be considered good? Are wins important?

When it comes to computers (I know I hate the BCS too) - what will be added into the equation this weekend for Florida is a quality win over #1. What will be added to the equation this weekend for Texas is -0-. That is what matters.

As much as I hate to say it I think Ole Miss maybe the best or at least second best team in the SEC.
They got off to a rough start with a totally new staff. As the season has gone on they improved every game.

So if Cincy were unbeaten they should go over Florida or OU? The problem with college football is the BCS system takes into account that there must be a relatively equal distribution of money to all the conferences. We all know it's about revenue and that's whay the conferences don't standup and cry foul on the way the system works. Simply rank the top 8 damn teams from top to bottom (regardless of conference) and put them in a playoff. It's that simple.

OK genius. How do you think we should make any sense out of this then. You probably don't need to know anything else than who is the champion of the strongest football conference in the solar system.

NOW you're talking my language. I agree whole-heartedly.
The commissioner of the Big XII was being interviewed last night and said something to the effect of, "I used to be commissioner of a division that had playoffs, and I'm against bringing that to this division. I'd hate to do that to the players because football becomes less exciting during playoffs."
bullshite. I think the NFL is damn fun around playoff time, and the weeks leading up to it. So far, that's the Big XII, Big Ten and Pac 10 commissioners that are against playoffs and SEC, ACC, Big East that are for playoffs.
