UNC has the higher profile, no debate there, but far more in state kids go to NC State. NC State has the overall bigger fan base in NC than UNC.

When the showed it in slow motion and they guys arm moved I thought part of his foot was on the line and the call would be out of bounds.

Then NC State over UNC is a lock. NC State pulls in more eye balls for football than UNC. As recently as 2022, NC State's TV ratings where 3rd in the ACC only behind Florida State and Clemson. NC State consistently beats UNC in football for ratings in North Carolina.

In 2018, NC State was ranked as the 46th most valuable college football program. UNC in that same study was ranked at the 50th most valuable college football program.
Obviously in basketball, UNC, no comparison. However football, not basketball, is what drives conference expansion.
