The thought is that you cut it to 6, stop the opponent, and score again to go up 1 with an extra point

You could argue it was the penalty that was previously ruled a 5 yarder. I guess it’s important to remember that the 5 yard incidental version was removed instead of being lumped in to the personal foul bucket.
