The West Virginia game used to be a great rivalry. But their fans just went off into craziness the likes of which should be outlawed in college football. I need not list the abuses again….we all know them. I’ll never forget one of the last times we played at Morgantown, it was a Wednesday night game (another effort to get a nationwide, only-game-in-town TV audience) and the governor of West Virginia gave all the school kids in the state the day off so they could get to the game. Talk about messed up priorities!! Again, this used to be a great rivalry, as good as any in college football. But it is not worth reviving it at the expense of uncivil behavior by their unruly fans. There are other OOC games we can get. I say, ”NO!” to West Virginia.

just one of the gems from the tech message board

I loved dancing on your WV in the middle of your field when we beat you guys in 89

My favorite trips as a player was hearing the fans crying in Morgantown when we won...

I really hate when they say they don't want to play WVU because of safety concerns on the WVU campus because I have to bite my tongue since the obvious comeback regarding on-campus safety would be really mean.

As they should, some really interesting BYB games I've seen (i.e., Revis' punt return and the 2007 upset)

UCF has finalized an agreement to play Penn State in Ireland in 2014, a source with knowledge of the deal told the Sentinel.

Organizers will make an official announcement with details about the game on Sunday, the source said. The game will be played at Croke Park in Dublin.

Pending the approval from the Pac-12, Utah and BYU will play in 2017 and 2018, Utah athletic director Chris Hill said via a youtube announcement on Tuesday.

The teams won't play each other in 2014 and 2015 when the Utes are scheduled to play Michigan.

Hill has expressed concern in the past about over-scheduling the Utes now that they are in the Pac-12, but obviously Tuesday's announcement is proof Hill has a genuine interest in maintaining the series.

TheScore.ie understands that talks are underway to host games in 2014, 2016 and 2018 with high-profile teams such as Penn State, Notre Dame and even reigning national champions Alabama thought to be amongst those interested in playing here.

quote:

With regards the other games, while last weekend’s Sunday Times reported that Notre Dame – who played Navy in 2012’s Emerald Isle Classic – were being lined up for a return in 2016, TheScore.ie understands that no team has been officially approached for either the 2016 or 2018 dates.

However, given their links with this country, the Fighting Irish, as well as the likes of Alabama and Boston College, are all being considered.

Additionally, while some outlets have speculated that Croke Park could even host a prestigious NCAA Bowl Game, it is thought that the venue is more likely to attract regular season games than end-of-season showcases.

WVU vs Penn State will happen

quote:

Penn State and West Virginia are close to finalizing a home-and-home series that will likely start in or after 2020, two sources told CBSSports.com. The two sides had talked about playing as early as 2018 but will probably have trouble squeezing in a game his decade because of scheduling conflicts, a source said. Penn State and West Virginia are about 160 miles apart and first played in 1904, but the series has been dormant since 1992. The schools played every year from 1947 to 1992. The Nittany Lions lead the series 48-9-2 and have won the last four matchups. West Virginia has been on the hunt for old rivals. The Mountaineers recently scheduled Virginia Tech for 2021-22.
