Parents now think their kids are perfect though..little johnny is never wrong...use to if the coach ever told my dad that I was fricking around in practice and not working I was in for an arse chewing...but now the parents take the kids side no atter the story. Which is why you see more out of control kids on field/court these days
I kige that, when my son gets in trouble I browbeat him until the truth comes out, I wasn't an angel and I know he's not either. He will own up to it after a few minutes and tell the truth.
This thread is full of this:

i strongly strongly disagree, yes the majority are. However, some are no different than past generations.
U strongly disagree, then u say the majority of them are? that basically says that you are trying your best to be politically correct but that you honestly feel that most are vags.

My coach always did this in High School. Most of the freshmen who didnt know he did this would be chatting with each other during infield practice/bunt coverage practice. So he would fire them at them. The bruises only lasted a week but the lesson lasted a lifetime.

Ok, obviously by saying they are pussies doesn't mean that every single one of them are. I'm sure there are atleast 6 or 7 out there that aren't.

And let's say the coach smacks one in just the right spot and causes brain damage. Should've been paying attention, right?
If he doesn't learn how to pay attention at all times when he's on the diamond, it'll happen to him during a game, and it'll probably be a harder hit.

If I were the player that got hit, my dad would have beaten my arse for lounging during practice.

Not these kids, but i've coached during the regular high school season and then also several other high school players during the summer...ive also coached at the junior college level and there were a few that were little bitches too.
Ah, OK. Makes sense.
Yeah, I lost all respect for the majority of my generation a while ago.

That coach should be allowed to hit baseballs at that kid's parents

Just laughing at the responses in this thread loaded with people pretending to know what happened and judging when they don't have a clue.
The team was working on comebacker drills from the mound, and the coach got mad at one particular player. He lost his temper and just started nailing liners at the players involved in the drill. One of those liners hit a player not involved in the drill square in the ribs. The coach simply lost his temper, and while everyone has their tantrums, this was quite a dangerous situation. That's just something that shouldn't be tolerated, and thank God, it wasn't.

I played American Legion ball with Mitch Covington and had not kept up with him from that summer (1993?) until now. Sucks to hear about him in this thread. He was a hell of a nice guy.

You had plenty of opportunities earlier to say what you heard "really" happened, but you didn't. I stand by my opinions, for now.

at least now it makes sense why he got fired.

Mitch is a good guy and good coach. We can't judge unless we know all the facts, but Central has an experienced administration and probably conducted a fair investigation and did the right thing. A Coach needs to know better apparently.
