What is your understanding of how Catholic High administers scholarships for students?

There’s a good bit of kids from WBR attending Catholic. About all of the 8th grade classes coming out of Holy Family are going to CHS//SJA, with a very very few going to PAHS or Brusly.

Most used to go on to Redemptorist before it closed.

Just dug out my senior CHS yearbook and counted 9 of us that went to CHS ('93) from HFS.

Can't put my hands on my 8th grade yearbook at the moment to compare, but the best I can count it looks like about 19 boys in my 8th grade class at HFS.

Not sure what the ratio is these days, but roughly 1/2 the boys in 1989 went to CHS from HFS. I don't think any went to Redemptorist. All the other guys went to PAHS or Brusly.

You have any idea how many westbank kids go to J and BM that never set foot on an athletic field?

Yet Port Allen took two basketball players from Catholic and ended up winning state title
shouldn't that read PA took them back from Catholic?

Well Catholic is the best academic school in Baton Rouge

Catholic is a good academic school but a terrible college preparatory school unless you just want to go to LSU, another Louisiana school or SEC school. Episcopal, SJA, BR High, Dunham and U High do a much better job as far as getting top kids into best colleges.

Oh boy, another one.

Go look up things that matter - ie. National Merit Scholars, where grads go to school, average college entrance exam scores. Then look up the number of grads at military academies. Oh, and the current students at Princeton, Georgetown and Harvard (he was also all state in football).

Yeah, just average state school academics.

The mere fact that you created an account or an alter is probably the funniest post in this thread

I seen something on Twitter that might break unofficial records for longest distance traveled to go to school next year

One of John Curtis’s incoming 9th graders next year drives in from Walker, and yes, he plays baseball and football

Last year, Dennis Dunn went 10-0 at NORTH DESOTO lol. They had never even won a playoff game before him. Third year as the coach I believe. When they played Iowa in the semis, they had the whole male student body dressed out. Guy knows the game period.

Class of 91 here. I’m just enjoying the jealous rage oozing out in this thread. Maybe if you had a portion of that passion applied to your school or your cause you might 1 make a difference and or 2 be a happier person. For the meantime I’m going to enjoy reading your meltdown over high school sports. Go Bears!!

So much for the #5 team in the nation huh…?

Why does Catholic even need to recruit? I mean it’s the only boys Catholic HS in BR, unlike in the NO area…

isn’t St Michael’s in BR?

why are they never good in football? in Lafayette, both STM and Teurlings are good. new Orleans - multiple Catholic schools are good. But in BR, seems like it’s always just Catholic.

Also, is this years senior class for Catholic the one they got dinged for cheating/recruiting?

Wasn't Duke Riley from Buras? Isn't that farther away?
