Meh. If you say so. At this point I might as well live up to my e-reputation as proclaimed by you kind sirs.

Here's a toast to more TD frickery in the future!

Goose Island isn't bad.

I wouldn't even count Goose, especially since they outsourced distribution to In Bev.

There's a few good breweries around town, but mostly just regional stuff that's so good (Great Lakes, Bell's, Three Floyd's, etc.)

Haven't had the chance to try them. I figured goose island was mediocre compared to some smaller breweries. That tends to be the way it works. Shiner and St. Arnold's are nowhere near as good Joker King here in Texas.

Yeah, pretty much.

You're alright by me LoveThatMoney.

Stay the course, many of your Cardinal brethren are unbearable. (I'm a Braves fan, not a Yankees fan, btw).

Why are the rest of the Cardinals brethren unbearable? Cause we start threads that proclaim them to be the best? Curious, Braves fan...

Well, to be fair, the thread started as really a "look at me and mine" thread that typically doesn't go over well on this site on any board. The MSB is no different.

You either knew that and were trying to rile people up or you were ignorant of that and simply displaying your fandom. Most people would bank on the former being the case.

In any case, since that time, you've egged on the opposition, so it's become contentious within the thread, which, naturally, brings out past emotional baggage as well. So, whether you are one of those Cardinals fans that likes to brag about the Cardinals all the time and make like there is no other franchise out there that comes close to their awesomeness (which this thread indicates you are), or you are a humble fan who enjoys a good game of baseball, you were bound to get shite on in this thread.

But, truthfully, a lot of baseball fans don't like what is perceived to be the self-monikered "Baseball Heaven" mentality that the Cardinals fans embody. Obviously, I think there is no better place to play baseball than St. Louis. I think our fans are informed, dedicated, and above all else, sane. More than anything, Cardinals fans enjoy good baseball. They aren't afraid to cheer and appreciate a diving catch by an opposing team's player.

However, I can't even begin to count the number of times that I've heard ESPN proclaim St. Louis as the best baseball town in the country with the best fans. Whether St. Louis fans believe that or not, it inevitably rubs fans of other teams the wrong way. So you're combating the perception, rightly or wrongly, that St. Louis fans are snobby as frick. For further proof of this perception, see the flow chart of baseball fandom that was posted on here not long ago: LINK

As a result, anytime a Cardinals fan cheers on their team, or in your case creates a thread dedicated to the Cardinals' greatness, it reinforces the notion that Cardinals fans are snobby pricks and are, therefore, unbearable. Cardinals fans are doomed to be hated. Success breeds contempt, which is why the Yankees are both the most loved and the most hated team in baseball.

Yeah, that's a good summary.

Plus, there was a thread last week by a Cards fan mocking the Braves for being happy their team was good. So the timing was funny.

I completely disagree. It wasn't a "look at me" thread. It was a "look at the Cardinals" thread. And, if you look at the photoshopped image of Lance Lynn, it even attempted to be slightly humorous...tongue in cheek.

To be honest, I believe it doesn't matter how a Cardinals thread is worded. People hate the Cardinals and thus hate their fans too. Braves and Reds fans sit at the very top of this list.

It is what it is. I can't blame them.

However, I'm not going to let haters of everything Cardinals Baseball stop me from posting a thread about my favorite team. Perhaps this thread wasn't meant for them. Perhaps it was a thread meant for Cardinals fans.

Maybe we need a Cardinals Board...

Not our fault. Sounds like an ESPN problem. Perhaps haters should target ESPN instead of Cardinals fans?

Wrongly. But then again, who frickin' cares? I don't care about Braves fans. They throw trash on their field, so....

Great point. Can't argue this. But once again, does this mean that Cardinals threads are off limits on a "More Sports Board"? I bet all Braves threads, regardless of content, are always considered high quality.

For people who don't care about the Cardinals, y'all have spent 7 pages talking about them.

Hence why I said "look at me and mine."

Agreed, this is what I explained in my post. Nevertheless, to take your favorite team to hate on: the Barves, if a Barves fan started a thread like this, you'd be first in line to ridicule them and contend that the Barves are not, in fact, the best franchise in baseball. It's natural fandom and it appears as if you started this thread knowing full well what you were getting yourself into. Therefore, you appear to have started the thread to rile others up. You succeeded. Now you're questioning why they're riled up.

Fair enough.

It's not a matter of fault. It's a matter of perception. I was explaining why people don't like the Cardinals.

No. I was answering your question:

quote:

Why are the rest of the Cardinals brethren unbearable? Cause we start threads that proclaim them to be the best?

In short, yes. Exactly because we start threads that proclaim them to be the best.

Throughout your thread, you've said "I don't care about Braves fans."

If you don't care what a Barves fan thinks, why worry about why you're unbearable?

It's not so much a worry than it is a simple curiosity. But you know what they say about curiosity...
