re: Can we kill the SEC speed myth?

The SEC speed thing got blown out of proportion with the tOSU-UF game because Florida beat them so bad. The speed difference in that game boils down to the UF DE's Harvey and Moss, who are both listed about 260-265, against the slow, relatively un athletic offensive tackles of OSU.
I don't remember the exact players, but you are dead on. If only it had rained, and the field went to shite. That would have completely negated Florida's advantage. Combine that with a bad personal foul at the end and we win.

That was the big difference in the game.
That and atrocious play calling.

And from what I've read about OSU, the OL play the last few years has been a big complaint from a lot of their fans.
The biggest legitimate complaint. We can regularly maul DL's when powerbrunning, but can't pass protect our way out of a wet paper bag.

...... as odd as it sounds, I'm not even that upset that we lost yesterday. We looked like shite all season IMO, as well as last year. We might have the speed advantage on almost anyone we play, but we can't use it to our advantage, so it makes no difference.

field conditions kill speed cpt. obvious

Skill position players on Most SEC teams are better than most Big Ten teams.
I think that's just because the SEC is deeper and has a bigger, deeper recruiting base. The population has been shifting to the South for roughly 40 years.

I think the overall thought is the depth. OSU doesn't really have a shortage of speed at the WR position and usually not at RB.
OSU churns out too many good nflers to be considered slow.
But the speed of the SEC's 5,6,7 >>>>> than the Big 10's 5,6,7... probably even 3,4,5...

listen
OSU is very athletic
that's why OSU fricking dominates the living shite out of the big10

The problem with your argument is it's just flat out wrong.
Yesterday we saw the SEC 3 lose to the Big X 3, and the SEC 4 beat the Big X 4 in overtime (Aubbie and NW may not have been true 4's for either conference but that's what the outback is supposed to be.
And the 5 team from the SEC lost to VT, while the Big X 5 beat Miami

and in a single game this year i saw the #1 Big10 team lose to about the #10 Big10 team

because you're faster it doesn't mean you're better. So when you string together random results it doesn't show anything. Also, you're pulling from a really small sample size.

and this year CFB is down
there is 1 elite team (possibly 2 with UF), Texas is really good, and then a bunch of blah for about 10-20 teams
and LSU's S/C program and les's overall philosophy is to build LSU to be big10-like

Well it used to mean the lines, but PSU and NW lines even held up pretty well against the SEC lines. Skill Positions I can' think of a team that has more NFL WRs than OSU right now
Give me a break dude. That LSU/Penn State game was indicative of nothing. What a joke that was. I'm happy I covered my bet but it should have been LSU 40 Penn State 17.
It makes me want to vomit watching LSU's offense. We have 2 or 3 legitimate first round NFL wide receivers and we don't come close to harnessing their insane talents.

the field did neutralize some of our speed, but our playcalling was one of the biggest factors.
hey, lets run fricking speed plays and outside handoffs to trindon, who totally relies on speed
and are we seriously trying to say that field didnt have SOME SORT of effect on the game?
only a fricking RETARD would say that. trindon returns two kicks for tds if the field is playable, and there is no debate really imo

If any game has showed this so far this bowl season it has to be Wisconsins bitch slapping of the Swagga boys.

You dont think they have more speed than Wisconsin? That was my only point. Responding to the poster who said the team with the most speed is not always the better team.

well whoever said that is dumb
but miami at 100% beats wisky, sorry
