re: Can someone explain to me how that wasn’t a fumble?

So not counting the foot he landed on when he caught the ball(left foot), he only made one step(right foot). So he really didn't have time to make a "move common to the game". Had he landed that other left foot, I think then it would've been ruled a fumble, but with only one foot running not sure how you could call that a completion and fumble based on the rule.

When the ball is in his hands, he gets the left foot down and then takes another step with his right foot. (That’s 2 steps) After that, the ball was being tucked into his hip, then it was dislodged. That’s a fumble 100% of the time. If you have to take two definitive steps every time you catch a ball, how do you explain every sideline/side of the end zone catch where they only tap one toe down. Game was bullshite

im sorry but those are facts

Two steps is not a required criteria for it to be a catch. He caught the ball and turned upfield towards the goal line. Football move. Should have been a fumble but the fact that it wasnt even reviewed by the booth is just another piece of the atrocious officiating

Had that catch and it was a catch been made in the endzone the Refs would have called a touchdown not an imcomplete pass.

That’s because the ball sailed 10 ft overhead

Catch requires three elements to be complete:
The difference between an "incompletion" and a "completion followed by a fumble" is in the rules for a completion.
A completion has to meet three criteria:
1. The receiver needs to gain control of the ball.
2.The receiver needs to have both feet or any other body part (except hands) on the ground inbounds.*
3. The receiver needs to maintain control of the ball long enough to make a "football move."
If any of these three criteria are not met, it is an incompletion. If all three are met, it is a completion, and if the ball is dropped, a fumble.
* player going out of bounds only needs one foot as long as they maintain control of the ball once out of bounds or hitting the ground.
The TE got hit while second foot came down and didn’t make a football move. It was clearly incomplete.

If play was dead it's amazing that the int by a&m wasnt, the ball clearly bounced off the turf, and let play out and then replay overturned it.
This should be done on all questionable calls.

I went into this expecting it to be a much more egregious call
Yeah it looked more like a fumble than an incomplete pass but it wasn’t anywhere close to obvious to me.
