Since my bracket has already gone to shits. I wanna ask some football questions that I have always thought of. I just never came around to actually asking them. First, why is it not "intentional grounding" when a quarterback spikes the ball? This always seemedto me like the ultimate "intentional ground". And second, everytime I see a kickoff the kickers opposite foot is always in front of the ball before he kicks it. Shouldnt this be offsides??? I know its crazy but it's just something I always found intersting.. What you guys think..

Why do you drive on parkways and park on driveways?
Why do they call them 'apart'ments, when they're all connected?
Why is it a "building" when it's already built?

I think in the rulebook they make an exception for spiking the ball.

What about field goals in college football? Shouldn't the holder be ruled down when the ball is hiked to him?

Why has it always bugged you. There are clear, defined exceptions in the rulebook for the qb while trying to stop the clock, and for the holders knee on a FG or PAT attempt.
I THINK there may be one for the kicker on a kickoff, but I KNOW there are written exceptions for the others

Intentional grounding is when a player passes simply to avoid a sack. A spike is a clock-stopping move performed when no sack is imminent.

he must be under center, a QB cant spike the ball while in shotgun

it is allowed in the NCAA, in the NFL he needs to be down by contact

Kevin,
I have always wondered why wear a helmet if it illegal to get hit in the head.

i not intentional grounding because in the case of intentional grounding a qb must be trying to avoid a sack.
