I agree. To even the playing field, I think the public schools should start charging tuition.

Like someone said earlier, LA public schools need to look in the mirror and fix themselves from within.
But instead they cried and took their ball and went home.

You wanna bet? Go look at schools like Lafayette Chistian. School wasn't shite in basketball until they hired the Starks guy, now he's recruiting kids over there. Now they look like an AAU team and beating the shite out of people.

So can you explain to me what the assistant basketball coach for UHigh does who sits on the bench during the games on his phone for the entire game?

So you think the asst coach is recruiting during a game using his phone? Maybe the public schools are that bad in La. Just so there is no confusion, I am calling you a dumbass.

force them to live within the rules if you're so damned certain.
Just this past fall, Byrd was proven to have broken LHSAA rules by using two athletic periods. Eddie Bonine tried to force them to live within the rules by expelling them from the playoffs, but the executive committe overruled him and allowed them back in the plyayoffs.
As I have said before, just enforce the rules already on the books.

Bonine has been done dirty by those he was hired to lead.

One team? Do we need to talk about Magnet programs doing the same? Once again... enforce the rules and tweak the rules.

Yes, mob rule by the incompetent is great. It's not like the privates split 60/40 on the issue. Every single private school voted against it.

Magnet schools don't cheat in basketball. All those players were zoned for Peabody and Scotlandville. They weren't recruited there.
ETA: Where is the sarcasm button on this thing?

That isn't the only example of that nonsense going. Bonine is utterly and completely handcuffed by the good ole boy system that has made the LHSAA the incompetent organization it is. The biggest problem with LHSAA right now is the executive committee.

Will be interesting if one side comes out and refuses to schedule other side during regular season

That's why they've kept the district set up - to ensure private school gates during the regular season.
Apparently private schools only have an advantage when the postseason starts.

Maybe when you grow up you'll understand that these type of shenanigans are why this state is so backwards and goes to the heart of our educational issues

So if team A (private) beats team B (public) during the regular season and then both teams win their respective state championships is team B really a champion anywhere except in history and their trophy case.
By the way these public schools didn't have a problem beating up on evangel in the early 90's when they were up and coming but when evangel started sinking that arse year in and year out then the their cheaters-they recruit nonsense started.

The dude expressed that this would hurt the product on the field from an entertainment standpoint. An opinion he formed while not even having a kid playing on the field. Thats...i mean...c'mon guys...

And yet, they are voting to split the championships. Sounds like changing the rules to fit your goal to me.
Weren't the state titles split almost 50/50 prior to the stupid split?
It's typical Louisiana really. If you can't do better, lower the standards. It's not about teaching anything important. It's just about winning. Kind of like EBR lowering the GPA requirement for athletes. Pathetic.

you got to remember HS sports are all there is in some of these places... those small North LA towns care THAT much. they can't go see LSU, the Saints or Pelicans like South LA can

Let me see if I can distill your perspective on this:
An adult who attends high school sporting events, and enjoys them as a sports fan..."grow up." Just let 'em play, then? But that's not what's happening, many with vested interests in championships and so forth are also aggrieved.
My son doesn't play the particular sports involved: "an opinion he formed while not even having a kid playing on the field. "That's ...i mean...c'mon guys..." Thus, my or anyone else's input, if we even dare to express it, has no credibility or accuracy by the fact that my son doesn't play the sports in question.
Is that about it?
HesterCarries, I assume your sons are involved in high school sports, then? Thus your expressed opinions DO matter, whilst the rest of us would better serve you if we all just acknowledged your superiority and simply shut the frick up for not being in agreement with you?
Am I close? Are there prizes? What do I win?
Thank the Dear Lord above that the sport my son DOES play is still a club sport and not interscholastic and under the (dubious) purview of the LHSAA.

I can give you arguments both for and against the split. Each side can bring up valid points. The fact of the matter is you can't change someone's mind on this one.
