If you're rich you have much more going on..the game is fun...you cheer..but it doesn't effect you like it would a poor person. Poor peoplel, thats their escape and they live through the sport more. That's why cities like Buffalo have better fans then Florida teams and so on. So are poor sports fans bigger fans then rich fans?

Ehh I see what you are getting at, but I dont think its 100% true. Maybe partially true. The best example I could think of would be Jack Nicholson with the Lakers. He is there every single game and always screams his arse off for the Lakers. I thought about Mark Cuban, but since he owns the team, Im sure he would care alot more than everyone else.

I could see where a fan was poor and hit it big he would still be a huge fan because part of who he was/is. But what if you were born into money? Would it still be the same?

It seems like you see more bandwagon fans in richer, more material diven cities for sure.

Probably not. What made you decide to bring this up? Are you doing some kind of psych project or something or are you just curious? Im sure this is probably true in about 95% of wealthy fans that were born into money, but not for all.

I don’t see it.

Really rich people like the teams so much they buy franchises. I don’t think there’s any connection between wealth and fandom. However, I do think you would find a better correlation between how long someone’s family had lived in the area and their degree of fandom.

I’ve just moved to Dallas, and obviously, I don’t care that much for the teams yet. I’m trying, and I think eventually, I’ll be a fan. But if I ever have kids, I probably won’t pass down a certain fanaticism to, say, the cowboys that my neighbors would. Of course, they’ll be brainwashed like I was to root for LSU.

Interesting question...

Rich people can certainly buy better seats, more merchandise, food/drinks, etc. Of course that does not make them more of a fan than one who is in a lower income bracket. The rich may also have more time to go to a game or even watch games and have more interests than sports in their life.

I could see that a middle/lower income person might appreciate actually going to a game or two, etc. since maybe they had to save money to attend or do without something for a specified time.

What comes to mind is the Miller High Life commercial where the delivery guy takes beer out of a skybox in "Section La De Da" and "wants to smell him a hot dog or something" and hang out with the regular people. LINK
