No sanctions will be executed until the appeals process is finished. USC is not wasting time in getting their appeal finished, and/or preparing to litigate.
USC can, and may, take one season of punichment during the appeal.
Ultimately, they are trying to get it cut in half, although they may publicly state otherwise- IMO.

It's a pissing contest between the NCAA and USC about USC's lax policies regarding compliance, and what the NCAA viewed as a lack of cooperation in it's investigation.
There was more than a hint of vindictiveness in the sanctions. 30 scholarships is probably excessive.
It may be a pissing match from the perspective of USC - but the NCAA has a policy of making punishment worse for non-compliance and obstruction.
Which is why I don't understand the consistent USC policy of bull-headed denial and resistance.
But go ahead and do like Bama did - pretend nothing wrong happened and scream about how unfair the NCAA can be - the NCAA can be inconsistent but that's not the point to argue when you get caught doing something wrong

what was the monetary amount in the Lester Earl deal? the total violations? were we considered a repeat violator?
just wondering, b/c that sure as hell seemed like a witch hunt. It's not like USC is the only school to think sanctions are too harsh.
