Then I suppose you don’t have a problem with espn broadcasters giving their opinions on political matters. After all, they’re not actually playing the sport, just talking about it.
What sports programming did Favre give his opinion during?

But he was just saying he wants politics out of sports. And now he proceeds to discuss politics.
What sport is he playing?

I'm not tuning in to Brett Favre to watch football. Actually, I'm not tuning in to Brett Favre at all. But either way he's not giving his opinion during a football game. The complaint people have is that we are being force fed politics and such during games.
I'm not sure why some of you have such a hard time understanding something so simple. It's the same people that don't understand what cancel culture is.

His podcast. And let’s cut to the end of this argument. His podcast isn’t solely about sports and he’s not on an active roster, so he’s free to discuss politics and not get any shite for it. Fine.
He’s a sports figure whose podcast discusses, from what I can tell, majority sports. You’re bending over backwards to argue that he can make these arguments but anyone else in sports shouldn’t.

If anyone is doing the bending, it's you. You already know that though.
The description of the podcast says it covers politics among other things. So your post looks even more ridiculous.

They try so hard for a gotcha and just keep falling all over themselves.

But he’s a sports figure. People give a shite about Brett Favre because of sports. It’s hypocritical to argue that it’s fine for him to say whatever he wants but someone on an active roster can’t.
People got all upset over stuff LeBron said on his HBO show. How is that different?

I simply have no words.

yea Lebron doesn't bring it on the court or anything.

I’m specifically referring to off-court statements.

This is you bending btw. Lebron doesn't keep it off the court, which is when people get annoyed. Certain messages are allowed to be plastered all over everywhere. It's all very one sided. I don't know how you can call people hypocrites in this thread with straight face. I just assume you're trolling because it's such a hilariously ridiculous assertion.

People get upset about what LeBron says because he's a fricking racist pos. And currently he's in sports and he's pissing off potential fans/customers.
Favre is no longer in sports. And he's not putting his political beliefs out there in the middle of a game he's playing.

Ffs I truly don’t understand what you’re not picking up.
Maybe don’t use LeBron as an example. Maybe use Stan Van Gundy. To my knowledge he hasn’t made any political statements during a game. People still suggest he shut up and coach when he posts on Twitter. He’s a sports figure so he should only discuss sports publicly.
For what it’s worth, I think Brett Favre should give his opinion if he likes. I don’t have a problem with that.

You bullshite whataboutism is what I'm not picking up. It's like this anytime someone dares to share a conservative opinion. All of a sudden people like you show up to say "see now it's time to be quiet about politics, right guys?" as if your views aren't the ones spouted 99.9% of the time and yo never have that view point then.

then your participation in this thread is just shitposting.

And the bottom line is Favre is sharing political opinions in a medium that is described as exactly a place for that. Anyone choosing to consume his content should know what they are getting. I may be giving you too much credit in assuming you can clearly see that.
Posted on 4/22/21 at 2:57 pm to LNCHBOX
I’m fine with Favre saying whatever he pleases. I’m also fine with players voicing their opinions. I think it’s hypocritical to argue that one should shut up and another one shouldn’t merely because one is actively in a league and another isn’t.

Well then I hope people aren’t ever upset by LeBron’s tv show or a player’s podcast or a coach’s Twitter.

I seriously pray that you are not this obtuse and are actually a persistent troll.
Political perspective isn't the issue. It is the hypocrisy of how one perspective is actively treated over another by corporate money.
I would rather it all go away from sports because corporate money and liberal MSM have managed to seek out what many people enjoy in an inclusive and unifying environment and frick it to hell.

Then call out your fellow liberals that come to these threads only to shite post. Odd that you can't handle that.
