What a terrible way to end a relationship/marriage. Come out of retirement as the GOAT- getting divorced as a consequence- and playing a mediocre season.

A sad ending for the GOAT.

Taking the personal life out of it I don’t think it’s sad from a professional standpoint. Better to know for sure you’re not at the level you want to be as opposed to always wondering what if.

He didn’t fall off a cliff skill wise but he was slipping enough to not be at his standard.

I can’t believe he’d give up a life of playing football to just sit around and be extremely rich and able to bang any chick he wants.

Losing to the Cowboys in the playoffs ended his career. What a pedestrian ending.

It’s an interesting coincidence that Brady retired 12 hours after Payton went to the broncos to work with Wilson

Or he retired, figured out the marriage was shot, and said screw it I'm playing one more year. Marriages take two to tango.
