And what I am saying is that although he is clearly not an altar boy, it is just pot. It's not like he just went out and punched some guy or ran from the police. If pot is the last straw, I just think that's pretty pathetic because the tide is clearly turning when it comes to our cultural view of weed.

Just because it's legal in a few states doesn't mean the NFL allows its players to use it. Especially when a player is on probation from the league for using illegal substances. You still got to keep that stuff on the DL and not be a dumbass.

I think you've totally missed the point.
If my livelihood depended on me not eating hamburgers, I would be able to not eat hamburgers. I'd say only an idiot doesn't understand the expectations placed on Aldon Smith.
I don't think weed should be illegal. I don't think alcohol should be illegal. Both can be problems for certain people.
It's kind of hard to make the case that weed isn't a problem for Smith when the guy can't prioritize his livelihood above it.
