Blaine Gabbert v Ryan Mallett

I start this thread by admitting to being somewhat of a homer. I do realize that both Gabbert and Mallett are extremely talented, but I feel gabberts flaws are being minimized. He had 16 tds and 9 picks completed 63 percent. Mallett around the same percentage with 32 tds and 12 picks. Also why is mallets game losing int always brought up, but not Gabberts pick six to lose missouri's bowl game?

I'd take Mallet over Gabbert all day, and my friends who cover Mizzou football think the same way. That being said, I don't think Mallet is going to be a Pro Bowl type QB in the NFL.

because Gabbert isn't a giant douche.

NFL teams are worried about handing him millions to expand The Legend's meth empire

Mallet is a skinny white man's jamarcus russell

Thanks for the mature responses.

I think both QBs are immensely talented, but lack the smarts in order to play at a high level required of NFL QBs.

Honestly though, Mallet makes some amazing throws that make you wonder why he's not the top pick and then a few plays later he'll remind you why.

Mallett won't be good in the NFL. Idk if Gabbert will be either.

yep mallett has all the physical tools but you put pressure on him and he has problems.

On a completely random note Matt Millen on Colin cowherds show said Mallett was mobile. No wonder Millen set the lions so far back with those kind of evaluations!

I'de take Gabbert, I think he is more accurate and give him a year to work on his footwork and I think he will be legit. Mallett is TERRIBLE when he gets any pressure from the D and can't throw on the move that great. Both have good arm strength but I guess I'de have to take Gabbert.

I'd take Gabbert over Mallet slightly. Mallet has more arm strength, but Gabbert just doesn't seem to get rattled that much. He's no Michael Vick in mobility, but he can move his arse. He's not really good enough to start day one, but if you want to give him some snaps and maybe a 3-4 starts at the end of a year , then I could see him being ready to go Opening Day 2012.

Jamarcus actually did pretty well under pressure. He's just a lazy frick.

JaMarcus never should have left. He had that big game against an okay at best Notre Dame defense and the media and some scouts went berserk about it.

I agree with this.

another year wasn't going to improve his work ethic. Now maybe a year later he could have landed somewhere that wouldn't have enabled his apathy.

Blaine Gabbert's ceiling is Philip Rivers but he's probably Patrick Ramsey.
Ryan Mallett's ceiling is probably Joe Flacco but he's probably Dan McGwire.
Of the two, I'd take Gabbert but I don't think either is a top-5 pick.
