I know when the song was ratified. I was talking about when it was written.

It wasn't the national anthem prior to 1931, it doesn't matter when it was written. Black people were citizens when it became our anthem.

There were several other contenders BTW:

What am I crying over. You're the one upset over a song 100 years old.

Assumption is the mother of all frick ups. Just like you.

You are the one still trying to argue something, I don’t know what but it’s nothing more than crying.

Do you read. I literally just said this.

but we still did not possess most rights at that time. We were not equal.

That's now what you originally said.

I'm not crying over anything. I'm just discussing why Lift Every Voice exists.

Correct. Black people at that time were not even considered citizens though. So were both correct here.

What a terrible historical knowledge...

They could at least pick a good song for their national anthem.

The US already has a National Anthem. Every racial group doesn’t need their own.

Well apparently black folks want their own shite.

I totally approve. Schools, businesses, songs etc. They claim whitey is toxic, more power to them.

Who would want to live under such toxicity, such as a national anthem that's not "black?" Human rights workers are livid!

Stop watching it. If more people walked away from their entertainment crack, we would all be better off.

Yea no I never made the argument for segregation.

You’ve literally done it in this thread multiple times.

Lift Every Voice does not advocate segregation.

Making it the black national anthem is the very definition of segregation.
