Why does this bother y'all?
Some of these types, vast majority are LSU fans, are going to be like the Japanese still fighting on the islands after Japan’s government waived the white flag and WWII was lost.
It’s discussed many times on this board how ESPN has so much control over college football. Short of some idiot intern putting up the Lafayette Leopards logo, it appears ESPN is now using the Louisiana sports reference, just like they use “Nevada” for Nevada-Reno.
The war is over.
And to be honest, I was never a big name person all this time. I thought a lot of it would turn out to be futile. I was wrong, though. Louisiana Ragin Cajuns is the athletic brand.

Hud was a semi hot name at one point too, but he didn't jump on the opportunity and look at him now. Napier seems to be a different beast than Hud though, with a higher ceiling, and I don't expect the same drop.
Two completely different people.
Hud did a great job of motivating the players and fanbase to give the community and people outside of Louisiana a glimpse of what COULD happen with our football program. But he was a rah, rah guy who eventually couldn’t keep up with the development and strategies needed.
Napier is so damn detail oriented it probably bugs the crap out of this players, coaches and wife at times. But it’s providing the structure and fit that is needed. I hope he’s so successful he can move on to any job he wants, and if it’s as soon as next year, I won’t begrudge him one bit for leaving us.

Lulz. AU never talked to him. He told USC he wanted 5 MM to talk. They told him to pound sand. Napier thinks highly of himself.

don't think Bama is going to get Dabo like many claim.
Agree. Dabo is too much of a clown for bama

I love this guy. Hopefully, when the time comes, he’ll take a reigns at LSU in the post O era.
You guys need to hurry up. You got the goods, let her rip.

It's not like ULL is paying him nothing
UL pays him 2 million. You can live like Jeff Bezos in Lafayette or Youngsville for that.
The problem is, they don't have any money for all these assistants and analyst that they would need to contend year in and year out with P5 schools

In Napiers latest contract, he got $2.5 million for the assistant coaches salary pool. It doesn't compete with P5s but it is significant for a G6 conference

He turned down auburn and South Carolina.
Can't speak for Auburn, but I don't think Carolina offered. There was a great deal of consternation among the fan base at the time, cos Napier made so much sense. But supposedly Tanner didn't offer. He, believe it or not, wanted Beamer the entire time.
These were the same sources who said Herman had a deal, then reneged, back in 2015. We're used to getting embarrassed, so no need to lie.

That’s false. We picked Beamer over him. Obviously that’s a mistake that no real Gamecock fan likes but that was the reality of it.

It's cute that every school's fans believe they got their first choice.

Beamer was the school’s first choice, not ours.
You are seriously misinformed.

We don't. We've been through several coaching searches in the last 6 years. We were publicly humiliated by Tom Herman, when a deal was in place. Didn't roll the dice on Lincoln Riley. Probably got turned down by Rich Rodriguez. Flirted with Jeremy Pruitt. Settled for Will gd Muschamp. That's embarrassing as shite.
But Tanner wanted Beamer in rd 2. Fans wanted Napier. I do not believe, based off of evidence, that he was ever offered the job.

From what I heard South Carolina turned him down... in favor of Beamer.

Fixed that first part for you. BTW, he lives in LFT, not Youngsville.
And not sure what facts you summoned to back-up that second claim. Besides maybe just pulling it out of your arse.

I'd put Georgia above both those schools if I was a betting man. But then again, if either school has an opening and he gets the call it's not like he's turning them down.

Napier is holding out for an elite program like Tennessee or maybe LSU A&M if Tennessee says no.
