As I was typing that I kept thinking that I really wish they still allowed players like Lambier to do their thing and rough frickers up.

As much as the older guys on this board say this, they would lose their shite if they actually did. They love to talk about the bad boys and Lambier, but if Deandre Jordan and Dwight Howard did the same things, they would be Thug POSs who deserve to be dead. You know how it goes. My dad does this. Watch an old video of Dick Butkus crushing a QB with a late hit, he says "You see that!!! They were filled with piss and vinegar in my day" Turn on the game Sunday and watch Willis or Hawk with a late hit, "Thug POS!!!!!!!"

ETA: This board was ready to arrest J.R Smith after the Celtics game

Incorrect. Loved the way Mason, Wallace, Lambier, et al played.

Sorry your dad is a racist.

Go look at what happened on this board with J.R. Smith. Go watch when a guy makes a dirty play. This board freaks the hell out. It isnt necessarily a race thing

when a tough play happens today, the player is a POS and the NBA is terrible because of them. that same play in the 80s gets worshiped here and is why the NBA was so much better then

I'm pretty sure Jordan could have taken the Cavs and beaten this year's Celtics, Bulls, and Hawks.

Jesus this is dumb

score 50 if he wants to

Then why doesn't he? That's my biggest problem with Lebron's game. He has no killer instinct. He would've been mentally whipped by the tougher players in MJ's era.

Because from an early age he was taught to play basketball the correct way.

MJ's style of play works for him. Lebron's style works for everyone.

So MJ's style of play led him to 6-0 in the finals. LeBron's style of play led him to 2-3 in the finals.

Clearly MJ was doing it right.

So let me say: 5-for-19 … and five. Those are Jordan's shooting numbers and turnovers in the final game of the 1996 season, when his Bulls clinched the title against Seattle. His teammates picked him up that night, as they often did on nights when he couldn't take over a game, which wasn't as infrequent as you think, at least not in the playoffs
Ok everyone pause!

This shite right here....THIS shite RIGHT HERE, is the most interesting thing about Jordan. How in the frick did he become larger than life? I'd bet 90% of us who never saw him play, and about 70% of those who DID see him play, absolutely have no idea that he EVER had a 5 for 19 type game.

Before I ever knew any better, I honestly thought the guy wasn't human. How'd it get to that?

Undoubtedly it was a compliment to MJ.

Most everyone that tries to play the game the way MJ played it will fail. How many horrible hero-ball chuckers that came after him really succeeded?

It's like watching Roy Jones Jr in his prime fight. An average boxer can't get away with the crap he pulled because they simply don't have his talent. Same with MJ.

On the other hand, Lebron plays the game the way you're taught to play it in beginner's league basketball. You're taught to work to make the best basketball play every time down the court. That's what he does. That doesn't translate into crazy highlight reels on a nightly basis but the point is that the team that makes the most amount of good decisions usually wins the game.

What part of "MJ's style of play works for him" gives you the impression that I said his way wasn't successful? It was right for him, but if everyone played like him the game would go to crap.

The box scores must be wrong. MJ never played a bad game.

Sweet. He made it a bunch of times through that gauntlet known as the Eastern Conference. That's amazing.

The east was so good that when MJ retired the first time western teams won the title (rockets x2).

And in the 5 years after MJ retired the second time, only western teams won the title.

The east was so good back then!
