This is false. He excelled in miami and had a few seasons in Detroit in which he was more than serviceable.

Bush had a better career but lived up to the hype a lot less than DMC.

I would say Darren McFadden was the better running back, but Reggie Bush was the better overall utility player.

you could probably just state it like that. As was mentioned in the other reggie bush thread, he probably should have just played WR or more of a hybrid role than being used as a between the tackles rb.

McFadden has a higher point.

For 2 years he was awesome for the Raiders and their entire offense when they sucked at QB under Hue Jackson.

The criticism people give Reggie Bush is unfair.

He was a PHENOMENAL college player, and unfortunately, the media went absolutely overboard oh him coming into the NFL.

He would have had to have been Barry Sanders to live up to the hype the media set up for him, and even then he still may not have "lived up to it".

Bush helped the Saints win a Superbowl, and quite honestly, could have been utilized better under Payton, in my opinion.

I don't think this is fair.

Reggie was hyped up, but he didn't have to be the greatest of all-time. He was an above average back at his highest point though and that I think deserves criticism because he had the skill set, he just fell flat when he was playing against a defense of NFL players instead of 2-3 at most like he was in college.

Zeke Elliott and Todd Gurley (Both young players) IMO are already better backs than Bush ever was.

The Saints would not have won the SB w/o Reggie Bush

I don't really care about anything else

I agree with this. He may not have lived up to the hype, but he was always a threat in both the running and passing game. He was a good back and would have helped any team in his prime.

This. I'll always remember him beating Arizona in the playoffs.

Receiving you could argue has a lot more to do with the system.

Reggie Bush was always seen as a multi purpose rb. That was the thing that set him apart from everyone else. He was touted as a rb who could run routes like a wide receiver, and that was how he was used early in his career. That had more to do with who he was than the system. It's what he did in college before he ever even played for Payton.

Even if you are attributing his having a higher proportion of receiving yards to the system that production doesn't just disappear.

Its Bush amd its not close. Only thing that would make it close is ignoring receiving and return stats.

That is how he was used with the Saints for the most part.

Probably about the same as a runner. Bush has a big advantage in receiving ability (not that McFadden is a bad one, but Bush is on another level) but McFadden has always been solid in pass protection if that counts for anything.

Watching McFadden Monday night i'm surprised he still has so much burst considering all the injuries he's had. Happy that he'll get to finally play in a playoff game even if it's just to spell Zeke for a few carries. Kind of want to see him knock the hell out of someone on special teams.

Bush

McFadden got seriously injured with Raiders.
They worked him like Gale Sayers. inside. got torn up.
He suffered being on a terrible Raiders team.

Too early to make this assertion for both these guys. Jury is still out on gurley (although he has no help from the rest of his team) and zeke runs behind the best o-line in the world.
