I'd take Alabama, Oklahoma, ND, Michigan, Oregon, and Arkansas over A&M.
ETA: and Auburn

They're a big boy program in the state of Texas.

big boy programs win games they were a middle of the pack Big 12 team and will most likely be the same in the SEC

I think if you're looking prospectively, then past accomplishments shouldn't be the main factor. It's a factor sure, but if you're talking pure potential then it should limited. College football is full of once great programs like Minnesotta or Army that have won a lot but you wouldn't put on this list.
That said, Bama and ND should both be on the list.

I mean if you include 2 schools from TX and 2 from Florida you have to include 2 from Cali. No reason UCLA should suck as bad as they do.

Their administration puts absolutely nothing into that program

Considering now that UCLA ponies up the cash with the new Pac 12 network deal.
Jim Mora - five-year deal worth approximately $12 million plus bonuses.
Before USC was paying the 3 million and UCLA was paying the 1 million.

I dont see how bama isnt listed name sells it self.
Clearly given the level of success and recruiting done by guys like Mike DeBose and David Shula.

Notre Dame and Alabama don't have to recruit nationally. Their name alone usually recruits for them.
Notre Dame is in NW Indiana, if they don't recruit nationally they would be Purdue. If the name sells it self, why have they been basically irrelevent since the mid 90's?

ND has been to 3 BCS bowls, so while I dont think anyone is claiming today that they are an elite program or even fared well in the those games. . The "irrelevant" talk is largely overblown. Also, ND went 10-2 in 2003 and got denied a BCS bowl opportunity

and people with a brain would realize that things can and do change. Prior to 2000, LSU was an historically 2nd tier program that was basically garbage. What would you have said if someone preducted a team that had 8 losing seasons in the previous 11, that had not won a conference title (not that that matters anymore apparently) since 1988 and had 1 NC in 1958, would be the first to win 2 BCS titles?
I don't know if A&M will ever be more than what they've been. but the do have all the necessary ingredients to be an elite program.

Mainly because these programs don't have to recruit nationally.
You're putting WAY too much emphasis on this. You really think that A&M would be able to sway coaches over the likes of Oklahoma, Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama, etc?

The programs he listed didn't make the OP's list.
