In person, 2011 NOLA Bowl - Cajuns vs SDSU.

Had a Cajun punt return for a TD. And a 4th quarter game winning drive with only 30 seconds left from the Cajun 17. No timeouts.

Pass completion to Cajun 25 yard line, 19 seconds left.

Pass completion to SDSU 43 yard line, 9 seconds left.

Spikes ball with only 7 seconds left.

Pass completion to SDSU 38 yard line, 4 seconds left.

Big Dick Brett Baer comes on for a 55 yard FG.

Flag thrown against SDSU for a penalty I had never heard before: illegal stemming, 5 yard penalty.

Brett Baer drills a 50 yard FG and time expires.

Euphoria.

I know a lot of people don't like defensive games, but this game was awesome. Felt like any play could break out and change the game and neither defense blinked.

I'd add the 10-0 game also. Games like that have such a different feel. First downs are huge just because of the field position situation.

no idea where the pick was you’re talking about.

It was actually on UT’s next to last drive. About 5 and a half min left. VY threw one up for grabs and Ting should have picked it.

Worst game was Baylor vs Washington Alamo Bowl I mean it got comical how each team would score. Keith Price looked like an All American, RGIII got hurt, Shock Linwood had it seemed 300 yards rushing, just ripping off runs. I felt bad for Chris Spielmann calling that game

I was at that game. Pretty sure it was Terrance Ganaway that ran wild. Had like 5 TDs and 200 yards.

If you are going for best game ever, there’s gotta be some qualifiers. If you include the stakes of the game, I don’t see how it can be anything other than Texas-USC.

-two stories programs, wire to wire #1 and 2.
-Rose Bowl, maybe the best setting in CFB
-2 Heisman winners and VY
-star players played like stars
-late game heroics
-also featured a defensive stand that will forever be a key part of the game

2011 Game of the Century lived up to the hype as well…sort of. That game needs a couple of TDs to be in the class of the Rose Bowl

If you are going for entertainment value and still high stakes, there’s tons of great ones out there.

Kick 6
Boise-OU
UF-FSU have a couple worthy of mentioning
Tennessee-UF 1998
LSU-Florida 2007
Texas-Michigan Rose

Texas-Arky 1969 should probably be in the mix for GOAT.

The 2011 LSU vs. Bama game was one of the most hard hitting games I have ever seen…. But Bama pretty much dominated the game except their kicker sucked. LSU’S punter basically won that game for them he pinned back on almost every punt…. Was it the most exciting game???? No way.

You are most likely right, Gannaway went wild in San Antonio and Linwood went wild in Arlington once.

It’d be fun to create a bracket with the best game of each year dating back to the 60’s, add in some play in games for great ones before that.

You know couple of the BC Miami game to me was a great game. Granted I was a young un for one and older for another but they have some craziness when they play.

I think the Hail Flutie was better than the Reed Return. The Reed Return was probably more meaningful though in terms of title implications

There was a Tech Miami game I recall a guy dropped the game winning TD for Tech in Blacksburg, that was damn great game also.

Flutie game was a good one. Many people think it was one play that made it great, but the game as a whole was solid.

Nebraska-Miami Orange Bowl from previous year was great.

To me it would be better to do it like a Bowl season and pick from each bowl game

Example

Rose USC Michigan or USC Texas
Orange Bowl Alabama Michigan, Clemson NU
Sugar Alabama Penn St
Fiesta Miami Penn St, tOSU Miami, OU Boise
Cotton ND Coog High
Peach UGA UVa aTm Duke
Holiday Any of them most likely but SMU BYU
Alamo Pretty much all of them KSt Purdue maybe?
Liberty Pig ECU

I hope you get what I mean then try to run it down that way

LSU at Alabama, 2011

I was at that game in the upper end zone grandstand freezing my arse off. Got hooked up with a ticket and sat by myself amongst all these Bama fans. Guy next to me was an alum, maybe 60 years old and saw me freezing my arse off so he poured me some of his whiskey into my coke to warm me up. We talked throughout that game about how special that game was between two all time defenses and how we might not see anything like it again. It was a pretty cool experience for a dumb 19 year old kid to have, cant believe its been 10 years.

There was an ECU Marshall Game in GMAC Bowl that only gets talked about during bowl season. I want to say highest scoring Bowl game at the time (maybe still?) That was not as ridiculous as the Alamo Bowl because the Defenses actually made stops late or made big plays. That was a great game.

I think what made that game more special was the history involved. The Marshall Plane Crash was coming back from a game vs ECU in 1970

In person:
2011 LSU @ Alabama (GOTC)
I know we lost but that was the best game I have ever seen. I have never been in an atmosphere like that. There were so many people on the quad that it was warm. I met some really nice folk from LSU. Started talking to two roughly 19-23 yr old guys who were LSU fans on the walk to the car who were wearing shorts and freezing their arse off. They had a really long and cold walk ahead of them. I have two boys at home and I felt sorry for them, so I drove them to the apartments where they were staying. I had to take every back road I know to get them there because of the traffic, but I got them there. They were good kids. I hope they are doing well wherever they are.

2012 National Championship - Alabama vs. LSU - great game that didn't feel like it was over until Richardson scored

On TV:
2012 Alabama at LSU - thank God for Yeldon
2003 National Championship - Ohio St vs. Miami - the best back and forth 3 OT championship game
