That's it ben, it's someone else's fault you're a bad shooter, not your own for never developing your own shot.

Is he blaming someone else? Sounds like he's just pointing out he's never had specific instruction on his jump shot.

It's like people are missing this part. Dude focused on other parts of his game growing up, parts that helped him win ROY, and now he's turning to shooting.

He needs someone to teach him how to show up in the playoffs.

You know you're good when you average 16/9/8 in the playoffs as a rookie and people say you didn't show up.

Looks like he showed up just for the Celtics.

I learned how to shoot when I was like 8 years old. It's not that fricking hard.

Well, no one taught me how to shoot, and I shoot a hellava lot better than Ben Simmons. Figure it out.

ETA: But seriously, I think he has handedness confusion. Learning to shoot may not be as simple for him as most.

Some people on here are so stupid. Y’all forget that lebron was the exact same way. He will develop a jump shot, he has just spent his whole life working on all the other things a point forward needs like ball handling, passing, spacing, etc. basically all the things that make him the most dynamic player since LeBron. Give him 2-3 years and he will be a +30% three point shooter.

Dwight Howard works hard on his jumper every offseason. Maybe he can learn from Dwight.

It’s not about being butt hurt. It’s just hard to imagine a. No one helped him learn to shoot and b. If your whole goal is the NBA why wouldn’t you take it upon yourself to ask. If it came out that Simmons asked coaches to teach him and they said no then that would be a big deal. Not to mention wasn’t his godfather on the staff? He was. You’d think if he came here because of family connections, they would talk about his need to learn.

I've always wondered with people who are good basketball players but can't shoot... what in the hell do they do when they play by themselves?

When I was growing up, if I had nothing to do, I'd be outside shooting and dribbling. Working on different moves, playing 1 on 1 with an invisible opponent.

But what do all of these players who can't shoot do when they play by themselves? Are they just doing the Mikan drill the whole time? Are they not shooting the ball?

You can't practice passing the ball and other things related to team basketball when you are by yourself. Surely they shoot around... so why do they suck so much at shooting?

Not sure, but I’d imagine he was probably one of the bigger kids growing so he didn’t really take jumpers at the lower levels. He was at LSU for a year. They weren’t going to try and make him hit jumpers either.

You said you played in college and you didn’t really work on your actual shot that much. I played golf in college and we never really worked on changing swing mechanics. It was more fine tuning what we’d already learned. The Sixers are going to have a long term investment in him, so I can see how it’s possible that he’s never really worked on his shot until now. He’s never had to.

I dont Get why LSU fans bend over backwards to pretend Johnny Jones was a good coach.

We all agree in all other conversations that he sucked.

Ben’s story would be more believable if his father weren’t a professional basketball player. Quit making stuff up for reporters and go shoot some jumpers.

Johnny Jones is probably the worst coach I’ve ever seen
