Would you as a U.S. American play for Russia if you felt snubbed by the U.S. Olympic team?

I don't see how any self respecting native born American would even dare cross that line.

In my situation, if I was good enough to play soccer professionally and I got snubbed by the American team, I'd consider playing for another team I'd qualify for.

if the US team didnt want her, i dont see the big problem

if they didnt think she was good enough, they shouldnt be afraid of her

BTW she had like 3 points today, 1-6 from the field

I doubt I would personally but I don't blame her for doing it. Getting a shot to play in the Olympics has to be extremely difficult to pass up for some people and Hammon is obviously one of them.

It's the olympics... if I was good enough to be there but not good enough to play for the USA, I'd play for whomever.

Except France.
And China.
And Iran.
And Canada... frick Canada.

Becky wanted to play in the Olympics, she didn't get elected to the team even though she's the better guard between her and Sue Bird, so she took the next best thing.

It doesn't hurt that she plays pro bball in russia already. Most of the best Americans do.

So you took the time to look up stats on the WNBA?

don't really watch women's basketball that much, LSU's women team ruined that for me by going to 5 straight finals and not winning 1. but I did watch the men's NBA allstar game to know that she was a MVP candidate for the WNBA, while watching her shoot in the 3 point contest with Tim Duncan and David Robinson.

Kige, she is gonna get paid six digits for it. She did not make the USA team so it is not like she choose them over us. I am all for making a dollar these days. Crap, I would play ping pong for Iraq's team for $20,000.

Yeah...isn't she getting like 2 million US to play for Russia? I don't think she is a traitor for wanting to make some coin and possibly win a medal...IMO she is a pretty good ballplayer and should get that money while she can. It's not like there is still a cold war going on even if it has been a little frosty lately

From what I understand, USA basketball pretty much gave her the finger. She was WNBA MVP runner-up in 2007. Not even an invite to try out.

I don't blame her a bit. She makes a HELL of a lot more money than WNBA stars.

Why are you people not calling Chris Kaman a traitor?
He is playing for Germany yet he was born in America. His great grandparents were from Germaney but none of his current family is.

Hey if I had chance to go to Olympics and play for Ireland (Irish Heritage) and I knew I couldnt go for USA I would go.

A great point...it is interesting how one person gets a pass , while another is labeled a traitor for doing the same thing
