It appears that some people do not agree the Cards are the best team in the NFC. If this is the case, then does this prove a playoff system would not work in CFB?

Playoffs aren't necessarily meant to put the best two teams in the NC...it's to eliminate the bitching and complaining from teams that aren't given a shot.

bingo, rarely do the best two teams matchup after a playoffs. You don't get the best teams you get the hottest teams.

they are not. They have won 3 strait, 2 at home, this brings their record outside the NFC West to 6-7.

And the BCS system doesnt do this? If they didn't Ball St would have had a legit argument that they should be in the NCG before getting beat by Buffalo.

yet there is always griping about bubble teams that miss the NCAA in BB. This year 11-5 NE got left out will 8-8 SD got in.

No. How does this give everyone a shot? It puts 2 teams in the NC, period. Everyone one else is screwed.

what possible argument would Ball State have?

Having the best winning percentage does not = being the best team.

But according to SFP in another thread record has a lot of meaning.

Look, I'm not saying the bitching and complaining will stop, but it gives the most legitimate contenders a shot. Nobody will ever be satisfied. That's just the way the world works.

The bottom line is I don't think there is a such thing as a "perfect" system. No matter what, there will be flaws. Even with a playoff system in CFB, you will still have teams crying because they think they should at least have a shot to get in.

I like the BCS the way it is honestly, and for a playoff system i think best record not division winner should get home field. thats about the only tweaking i would do

in context it does, Ball St does not play the same level of competition that teams like Florida and OU play.

In pro sports the talent gap is not very big, no where near as big as it is in college. Plus they are all playing basically the same schedule, there are only 31 possible opponents for the NFL, there are literally hundreds in CFB.

at the very least, in the nfl you know what you have to do to get in the playoffs. the rules are clear cut. you dont have that in the bcs. weve seen teams lose their conference but still get in the championship, along with undefeated teams get left out for teams with losses.

its a tough compromise in the nfl, get rid of divisions and you get rid of rivalry. so while the nfl playoff isnt perfect, you do know what you have to do to get in, and you always control your own destiny, thats something that you cant say about college football.

I would limit it to 4 that would keep the importance of the regular season and avoid situations like Auburn in 2004, USC in 2003 an Texas this year.
