Conference champs unless Bama, Texass, FU, Southern Cal, or Notre Dame is a wild card. Those teams get a mulligan if ranked in the top 16.

Was just coming in here to type something similar. Though if "FU" refers to UF, I don't think we have to worry about that any time soon.

The more I think about it the more I like the Conference Champs idea because it basically means if we win the SEC we win the whole thing

Still like my plan
8 Team Playoff
4 Conference Champions
4 At Large

Conference Champions
Conference Champion #1
Conference Champion #2
Conference Champion #3
Conference Champion #4

At large #1
At large #2
At large #3
At large #4

First Round at Conference Champion's stadium

Game 1 #4 AL @ #1 CC
Game 2 #3 AL @ #2 CC
Game 3 #2 AL @ #3 CC
Game 4 #1 AL @ #4 CC

Game 1 Winner vs Game 4 Winner
Game 2 Winner vs Game 3 Winner

National Championship

Football Four at BCS Bowls

National Championship at random BCS Bowl or Stadium

this whole thing is bullshite. I do like your 8 team scenario. That would leave less room for controversy. top 4 is crap, What about #5? I cant stand Boise St but what happens if they are at the #5 spot undefeated? they have a reason to cry. Thy are basing this off of last year and the way it played out. The only true way I feel is a 30 or 32 team play off. No mulligans, No coaches politicking on national TV for votes, no team of the century playing 0 ranked opponents and getting in for one game with 6 weeks to prepare. its all left on the field.

Wow, a selection committee for 4 teams? That will be interesting to say the least.

ETA: If they wanted to choose the one way playoffs could cause more controversy than the BCS, they have done it IMO

What about #9
Whatever the cut-off number is there will be some bitching.

Good

The conference champion requirement is idiotic.
