Aggies are already making fun of Baylor? What a shock!
the collective penis envy must be killing them. baylor and TCU are both massively upgrading their facilities and theyre sitting there with a disaster of a stadium and they know it. whats worse, these private institutions are upgrading and a flagship texas university has no plan for kyle except trying to get it up to fire code. they cant even afford to demolish that shite box

They screwed themselves by building that Academic Center in one of the endzones. There is zero possibility of adding on.

In the second pic, whaat is up with that open section near the corner of the endzone nearest the viewpoint? It looks like a section of a track or something.

I thought there were plans to either tear down Kyle Field and start new or completely renovate it. I could be remembering wrong, but I thought there were discussions about using Reliant to ply home games for a year or so.

theyre *talking* about it. they dont exactly have tons of money lying around for a new stadium as theyre already getting interest free loans from prominent boosters to balance the athletic budget.

they know kyle stadium is a total mess, but itll probably be cheaper/easier to renovate it than to go all out and build a new football stadium. theyre in a sticky situation which is funny hearing them try to bash anything baylor is doing to upgrade their facilities.

Pretty sure that's the student section. Probably is just bleachers with no chair back

This is completely untrue. The A&M athletic budget is perfectly fine. A&M is one of the 22 self-sufficient athletic departments.

The truth is that A&M has a large number of big money donors who are very interested in supporting a rebuild of Kyle. They're currently evaluating the two options of doing a rebuild in sections while continuing to play games in Kyle which would take place over a few seasons or lose one season and play games at Reliant for a year.

Bill Byrne, the A&M AD, was a strong outspoken opponent to increasing stadium size prior to last season. Thus, A&M was not actively drafting plans for stadium size increases as of last summer. The move to the SEC and the dramatic increase in ticket interest forced A&M to scrap the plans for a remodel only. They will now look to significantly increase the overall and premium/suite seating capacities.

For those wondering if the Bright complex is in the way for stadium improvements, the answer is no.

Also, Baylor's stadium renderings are great. They're striking while the iron is hot, which I believe they realize they must do to make this stadium a reality.

There are rumors that the Baylor brass are a little perturbed with McLane for not committing more than 20 million to the 250-300 mil project.

I will say this one criticism of the renderings, the Brazos river is NOT blue.

Edit: Fixed total price of project

This is completely untrue. The A&M athletic budget is perfectly fine. A&M is one of the 22 self-sufficient athletic departments.

quote:

four years ago, Texas A&M University president Robert Gates and athletics director Bill Byrne agreed that Aggie athletics needed an infusion of cash to improve its competitiveness.

They struck a deal for the athletics department to receive a $16 million line of credit from university funds. The athletics department would have access to that credit for four years and then would have 10 years to repay the money without interest.

“Basically, it was provided to the athletic department to address some deficiencies we had, to bring it so that we thought we could be competitive,” said Terry Pankratz, chief financial officer and vice president for finance at A&M.

Urm.. dude the money was borrowed in 2005. The AD borrowed money to spend immediately on capital projects and to fix problems inherited in the budget from the previous AD. The AD has since paid that money back.

Also, you said this:

quote:

theyre already getting interest free loans from prominent boosters to balance the athletic budget.

Which is completely untrue and not even based on fact.

This is Baylor not LSU. They are a small baptist school I think. Their Tailgates , I would guess are nothing like ours.

Nothing is like LSU's tailgate. But Baylor tailgating would surprise most.

The problem with Baylor is the ugliest chicks in the southwest seem to flock there. They have some hots but you have to fight through a lot.

Nice looking stadium...I think the 45,000 capacity is big enough for their university. It'll definitely assist in their recruiting
