lol at all these no defense claims.

its not that NBA plays no D, its that NCAA offense f-ing sucks arse for the most part.

For real. Anybody who thinks there's no D in the NBA doesn't understand what they're watching. The elite defensive teams play a level of D that college teams couldn't dream of playing.

yEAH they dont call traveling most of the time.. 2 reasons : the refs simply have a hard time catching it bc the players are so quick and the nba is trying to sell a flashy product, not calling walking leads to more explosive plays

See, I have a problem with this. Stars never get called for anything.

C'mon man! Play a fair game. And players take charges all the time without getting a call. I don't want to watch a dunk contest. I want to watch a basketball game.

The flopping has gotten out of control as well.

And again, my biggest problem is competitive imbalance. The reason basketball won't pass football in popularity is because not every team has a chance to win. Nobody cares about watching Sacramento vs. Phoenix or the Bucs vs. Rockets. They'll watch the Boston vs Miami or Yankees vs Red Sox.

Thibs runs rings around any college defense with all their "effort" and "hustle".

College basketball is a far inferior product, plain and simple. That is fine if you prefer it, but the reasons posted to not watch the NBA all pretty much either myth or illogical.

My favorite one is that the NBA is too reliant on treys when there are tons of college teams that live and die by the three because it is so close that it is simply more efficient than most twos.

Hell, I've only lived in Alabama. Since I started watching about 5 years ago, it's quickly become my favorite sport.

Yeah, and in the NBA you just have to see who has the top stars on their team to pick.

NBA reg season is pointless, same handful of teams at the top every year. No depth at all.

OKC, Miami will go like 65-17 or better, Spurs/Memphis will be right around there.

I'm just not a big pro sports guy, and in a game like basketball where the roster is so small, you can buy 3 stars and throw together a mediocre bench and win it all (Miami).

You can't really buy a title in the NFL, or MLB, much much easier in the NBA especially if the Heat win back to back which they probably will. Yawn.

Someone tell me a player in the NBA who doesn't play defense.

Tell me the best player in the league doesn't chase down and block shots on fast break lay up/dunks on the reg

I don't watch the NBA for a lot of reasons, and none of it has to do with the fact most of the players are black. Also for a lot of reasons I don't watch the NBA, are the same reasons I don't watch the NFL.

One main reason I don't like the NBA is that the sport is too big-market and superstar oriented. When the Heat play the Lakers, its not the Heat vs. Lakers. It's Kobe vs. LeBron and the NBA markets it as such. It's all about the stars, therefore the entire game and officiating will revolve around the stars. This makes the game imbalanced.

Because the game revolves so much around the stars, the league is starting to become too unbalanced toward the big market teams. Since players only care about jersey sales and being a star, they have to be on a big market team to be a star in this league. And if they aren't on a big market team, they cry and kick and scream until they get traded. Brandon Jennings of the Bucks is already wanting out and he has been there only 2 years. Teams like Milwaukee and Charlotte will never have a chance because they can't hold onto stars or attract them.

So this has led to the major teams in major markets getting all the players. Might as well contract half the league and just have 14 super-teams or so, since this is the way it is headed.

Another main reason I dislike the NBA is because of the style the game is played. Each team is pretty much the same. I don't like the NFL for this reason, there is no variety. Each team runs a pro offense in NFL, and each team runs a transition based offense in the NBA. One of my favorite things about college ball is to watch a well executed Princeton offense, because the team running the offense has to know what they are doing as well as the team defending them. Each possession is a battle in which the team that executes the possesion better wins the possession. Not so in NBA because players take too many possessions off.

Which leads me to another problem in the NBA, effort. Teams show effort when playing against big names and big teams, but otherwise don't hustle on defense and only care about their numbers. It's evident.

Teams start trying in the playoffs, but there is too much wrong with the NBA postseason. First of all, any sport in which over half the teams make the playoffs is a joke. Needs to be cut down. That way the regular season would mean more and players would try harder in the regular season. And second, the playoffs are too long. Too many off days in between games, I remember some series having 3 or 4 days in between games. Unnecessary. The playoff length problem could be solved by cutting the number of teams and shortening the length in between games. But this will never happen, since the NBA playoffs make too much money. If anything they will be expanded.

Because the NBA playoffs make so much money, the league has a vested interest in how the playoffs unfold. A lot of people say the NBA is rigged, and after Tim Donaghy anything is on the table. I don't think they rig games, but I do think games are influenced.

College ball is just the better game, IMO. More variety, more teams, more styles, better rivalries. I know people will say they don't pay attention to college ball until March. I understand, but one of my favorite parts of college ball isn't the tournament but how teams get there. Therefore I love following all the teams and watching them as the season unfolds and evaluating their NCAA tournament chances. Each game becomes more important when viewing it from this perspective.

THose two gifs were bad calls, obviously.

i dont have a reason for it, however i will say that those plays do not happen to that extent very often;
players usually walk at the beginning of their dribble, not the end

Flopping will be controlled in the near future, the NBA has realized how big of a problem it is

Competitive imbalance is also a negative of mine, one of the very few. When it comes down to that, i like to watch the game more for the athletes playing basketball instead of basketball players playing basketball

March Madness > NBA playoffs

NBA regular season = College regular season

IMHO, I like the conference battles and conference tournaments. The games that are going on right now aren't great suck. I can't get into the NBA until later in the season. But the games are usually better depending on who is playing.

A lot of people on here are complaining about superstars. Its not the NBA's fault that the talent gap is so wide, and that one player can affect the game more than in any other sport. Superstars are the nature of the game...

i see your view

myself, i like the pro game better, ive always felt that the pro game in any sport is better just because they have the better athletes.

some ppl will say college is passion and pro is entertainment

for me, the reg season is fun to watch, (knicks heat 2nd half about to start) that is the point of it.

Depth is bad league wide and it may not be getting better. Stern has been seriously looking into expanding into Europe before he retires
