the last time the owners tried to put in a salary cap was 1994 and we all what happened.

Who cares?

As long as a handful of teams are able and willing to spend with deferred contracts and the rest arent whats the point?

That was before my time but apparently it was 50/50 split of annual league revenue?
1993 MLB revenue: $1.9 billion divided by 28 teams
$67,857,142 x .5
$33,928,571
Which is only about $76.2 million in 2026 money.

The players will never agree to a hard salary cap. Hell, I'm not even sure the big market teams want a salary cap either. But I think both sides are cognizant of 1994 and don't want a significant lockout/strike (though I think some length of a lockout is very likely). Even if that means the season is shortened.

MLB doesn't really want to have to go back to allowing their guys to juice up like WWF wrestlers just to get the fans back again. There are just way too many other entertainment options today with Netflix, Nintendo, jerkoff magazines, to risk giving people the opportunity to ignore MLB

Owners should just clean house and start over. It's their money, period. Don't like it? Don't play

I'm never on the side of management but I'm making an exception here.

I support a lockout and if that means no baseball next year then so be it. MLB's salary structure is broken and needs a complete and total overhaul. If a long lockout is the mechanism that accomplishes that goal, I support it.

I've already mentally prepared myself for not having a season in '27.

I just think it is really awful to have a league where one team can spend 400M when there are 7 teams spending under 100M

Gooood gif. A bunch of overpaid bums who have hardly any one on one physical contact, take days off, and get paid millions of guaranteed money. Plus the retarded analytics have taken over. F baseball

I really hope they strike. The game needs to get more balanced with competition.

I’ve listen to all the players association’s statements about money loss and deflecting. The reality is the league offer would still allow that much money on the table for players salaries, just divided amongst the league. No more stacking rosters unless players decide they want a pay cut to stack a team, which then that’s on them for wanting less competition.

As a baseball fan I would love to see more appearances in the World Series by smaller markets. The game going back to developing your farm system and GM’s needing to do more due diligence when going after a free agent. Salary cap works in the other leagues, not sure how baseball thinks it won’t make the game better in theirs.
