Wasn't Harper having a problem hitting in AA?
yea and I didn't understand his promotion

he was productive for a while when he was called up, but he's settled right back down where I kinda assumed he would be

I don't get this move. I'm glad the O's didn't make a deadline deal to sacrifice the future to lose one playoff game, but why start Machado's clock? Especially when you could call him up on September 1st when the rosters expand to 40 without starting his service time clock?

At age 19, Machado put up a 266/352/438 line in AA in 459 AB's. Harper put up a 243/325/365 line in AAA in 74 AB's at the same age. At 18, he hit 256/329/395 in 129 AA AB's. I think the O's can realistically argue that Harper's last year of minor league development is no more impressive than Machado's. Of course, what's impressive about both is how far advanced they are at the young age.

trying to build hype? they see Washington coming with young guns and not going away. i think Baltimore is horrified of quickly losing the D.C. market share they have owned for decades

Joel Sherman says that they'll consider putting Bundy in the pen at the end of the year too.

Harper was only 18 in AA with a lot fewer at bats in the low minors.

Largely irrelevant anyway since they're wildly different prospects. Machado has huge upside, but he's not close to reaching it. The move makes zero sense, but stranger things have happened than an elite prospect having success at the major league level before "he's ready".

Other than starting his clock early, I really don't have an issue with the move. They've been throwing garbage out there anyways. As long as he can hold his own defensively, anything offensive production would just be gravy.

Why start the clock and why call him up before September?

Not every top prospect comes up and plays as well as Trout and Harper.

Let's not forget that even Trout was not ready in 2011.

I hope Machado does well, but I do not think he will fare too well this season in the AL East.

Why call up Bundy before September 1? The O's pen is pretty darn good and doesn't need the help.

At least the O's have a gaping hole at third base.

They want him to get his feet wet at double A first. You don't see many Single A jumps right into the big leagues. Double A is a bit more common. If he performs admirably at Double A, he may get a September call up.

Isn't this the guy advocating for the Astros to sign Josh Hamilton this offseason?

Would take anything he says with a grain of salt, quite uninformed when it comes to baseball.

So sad... your comprehension skills are still poor. I'd correct you, but you wouldn't understand it anyways.

Stros getting ready for next year. I can see them overpaying for Hamilton and/or Bourn this coming off season.

Here is his post

There is literally a 0% chance this happens, and that is not an exaggeration.

There it is. Might as bump the whole thread so you can understand the context behind it.

I can see them overpaying does not equate to advocate them signing him.

Guess we can put you in the same boat.
