The best was when I called him out on it in that thread, and he argued for it and how it would speed up the winning process and somehow help prospects in A ball and AA ball develop.

No No No, don't try and weasel out of this.

That entire thread after I called you out you stated how it would be a good move and why not since they'll have a ton of money to do so.

You know you were advocating/approving a run at Hamilton/Bourne this offseason.

Don't sit here and try and lie to save yourself embarrassment.

Nah, papz is a good poster. You two just fricking suck at reading comprehension.

He was saying something more along the lines of just going out and using the money they are accumulating to better the organization.

I'm not trying to weasel out of anything and I certainly haven't embarassed myself. Go re-read everything. Obviously you didn't understand the first time, why am I going to sit here and rehash all my points.

Here's a quick synopsis..

Not everyone wants to go through a 20 year rebuilding process like the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Astros aren't a small market team and have the money to make a run at multiple free agents that can help them speed up their rebuilding process.

I can't help if you're not bright and can't understand that.

In the original thread after he posted the quote that Swamp just quoted, I responded to him telling him the Astros front office would never do that and it'd be idiotic.

He then proceeded to justify a move like that and advocated doing so since they'll have lots of money to spend.

He'll try and say "reading comprehension" in this thread to save himself embarrassment from what he said in the original thread.

I don't know. Depends... you got better options? How's your team looking? What are you lacking? Come on R2R... you planning to join the party too?

Appreciate that VKC.

The idiot strikes again.

You supplement your home grown talent with FA signings when you're ready to compete. The Astros prospects are still 2-4 years away. Signing a big name FA this offseason would be retarded.

You justified it being idiotic because they would be spending money to just spend money.

Good lord, it was written in plain simple text. Now, non so bright guy... GO RE-READ IT. It wouldn't be idiotic if they were spending to get better.

(Then I go into a break down the limited spending on draft picks and why it's dumb to sit on a 40 million payroll if you could get better acquiring some key free agents)

Yes. Because signing Hamilton or Bourne makes the Astros that much better in any of the next three seasons

Might lose 95 games instead of 100.

Team needs ton of help, and I gurantee they won't be signing any big name free agents this offseason. Might be hard for you to comprehend since you have no idea what you're talking about.

Team is three to four years away, but hey let's lock in big money on Mike fricking Bourne over the next six years so our team can lose 94 games instead of 97.

There's nothing hard to understand about it. Signing a big name free agent would be retarded. Something I also said.

Obviously you didn't read what was said and cherry picked a single sentence to attempt to twist. Might want to come informed next time.

Hardy is signed for two more years and they are putting Machado at third. He's safe. He hasn't played that well this year, but he's one of the more reliable players on the team and he's still under 30.

To bring the Pirates-Stros slapfight to the original topic, the Orioles are now a team that should think about signing a big name free agent this offseason. They need a big bat at first or in the outfield to put around their core of Jones, Wieters, Hardy, Markakis, Machado.

Agreed

The O's have some good, young talent at the major league level and have the resources to do so.

They're ready to compete now, and a big name bat could put them over the top and into the playoffs next year.

However, no big name bat or two or three can do that for the Astros next year or in the next couple years. A point Papz doesn't seem to comprehend.

I'm surprised you can comprehend anything at all.

With that said, if the Orioles are going to add significant payroll, I would think they would want to add a staff ace first... as it's the bigger pressing need.

But sure, Hamilton would look nice in their lineup. As it would 31 other teams in the major leagues. Without some consistent pitching, their team would be all bark and no bite... ala the old Texas teams of long ago.

Really think the O's need a big arm before another bat.
