Did Duke make a shot from the field the last 6 mins? Terrible shot selections. Ohio St with a gritty win...wasn’t pretty

I don’t have the second half stats but heard Bilas say Duke was 5 for 22 at one point. They didn’t make more than two baskets after that.

I’m sure someone will post it but it could be something like 7 for 30. Yikes

Really bad possessions on offense for Duke at the end of the game. I don’t know what they were running or trying to run.

This is like being on the opposite end of those Duke-UNC games in 2011 and 2019 where UNC fans are thinking how the hell did we lose this game?

At least it isn’t a rivalry game.

Was OSU missing a starter and a key reserve today?

No.

ETA: I take that back, we were missing a starter. Justice Sueing.

My post from before the game, and it holds true again. OSU -7 last weekend was the other recent one that looked like a lock.

Sueing and Towns are out with injuries until at least mid-December. Sueing is a returning starter and double digit scorer. Good shooter and ball handler who can create shots. Not having him in the lineup is a huge blow. Towns is a grad transfer from Harvard who had some big moments last year but can’t stay healthy.

I didn’t even realize Cedric Russell was at Ohio State and I flip the game on at the end and he’s involved in like 3 or 4 huge plays.

The step up from the sunbelt to major conference basketball much be huge though because he can barely get on the floor and he averaged 17 for ULL last year. Though I would guess he will see more time going forward after the way he played this game.

Towns was the guy who I was thinking of. Duke was interested in him as well but he appears to be snake-bitten with injuries.

Russell played great today. Best game so far. I think he had personal issues or an injury at the beginning of the season that limited his minutes, but not certain of that.

He was a huge talent coming out of HS. Played at the same HS as Jared Sullinger and Trey Burke in Columbus. I think he was player of the year in the Ivy League as a frosh but has been hit with injuries ever since.

Ah, I was just looking at career stats and saw the massive drop off in minutes.

Veteran presence from a fifth year senior that has played in like 120 games can be massive.

What do you think about Karl Ravech basically saying if y’all had beat Michigan on Saturday nobody would care about this basketball game? He kept talking about that game in relation to the game vs. #1 Duke lol

Karl Ravech seems to get a lot wrong when he isn’t taking about baseball.

Although I will say that this crowd seemed more subdued than the one I remember in 2011.

Part of that has to be expectations, as OSU was coming off the 07 title game, Evan Turner carrying a limited team as much as possible, and then Sullinger.
