Wow. So now they have all of their big four guys locked up through what, at least 2029?

So is Swanson or Fried gonna be the odd man out?

Yeah I agree we won’t pay both Dansby and Fried unless one of them takes a major discount. Most likely Dansby.

As team friendly as they are getting these guys they might both stick around.

I didn’t think we would keep all 3 but with this much of a discount we might, or get one of the other shortstops that will be available

Yeah Riley took a very team friendly deal. It’s possible we keep both Swanson and Fried.

I think Fried loves the Braves but he’d love to go to one of the LA teams too.

Dansby is from Marietta but he definitely seems like he wants to be paid what he’s worth too.

If I had to bet right now, I bet we let Dansby walk because someone will pay a ton for him.

I think a team will offer Dansby something like 6 yrs, $130M and I’m not sure we will match, nor should we

That would be a fricking bargain. Dansby is probably the best SS in the league. Top-3 at the very least.

For some reason, I think AA is going to balk at the idea of paying a starting pitcher something like the 6/$160M that it'll take to keep Fried. Fried is awesome but there is an inherent risk in paying a 31 year old pitcher huge money like that, which is how old Fried will be when he hits free agency.

For one year.

Story was the exact same age as Dansby with far better career stats and he got 6 years, $140M

Some of Frieds stats kind of make you wonder how he will age. He’s not striking out a ton per 9 right now in his prime when you compare him to pitchers of a similar age and likely contract status. Like you said, when he’s 31 he will want at least 5 years. All the “Riley Dansby or Fried” talk might be moot because we could just ride out his Arb and let him go.

LFG. Braves are ridiculously stacked for the long term especially considering two pieces up the middle will be on minimum deals for years. I’m curious if the Braves let Swanson walk and roll the dice on Grissom to keep that influx of young cheap talent coming through to go with the long term contracts

Yeah, he will be in his age 30 or 31 season after the Arb years. I worded that poorly

This is my thought as well. If the Braves re-sign Dansby, then Grissom becomes the top trade piece. I think internal evaluations will determine what they ultimately decide to do with Dansby and Fried.

Word my from boy with some Braves ties is Dansby is asking so far out of what Braves are willing to pay. Doesn’t sound like he’s gonna be a lifer
