Their defense is average and offense has sputtered against mediocre competition at times this year

Reaching. They're about as complete a team as there is this year. Like someone pointed out earlier, each of the playoff-bound teams has their issues. No one is perfect.

It's not Matt Ryan's fault you won't win the SB

Yeah, about that.

Look, as much as I love to troll Falcons fans, I think that Matt Ryan is not what's holding the Falcons back. They are most dangerous when the focus of the offense is him, with Snelling and/or Rodgers in the backfield. They spent multiple picks for Jones--use him. The reason that Jones and White seem to disappear in some games is not Matt Ryan; rather, it's the playcalling (though that's MUCH improved over last year).

Falcon's defense seems so hit and miss. I know they've had some key injuries, especially in the secondary, but some weeks they look really good and other weeks they look like the worst defense in football. I think they'll be able to compete with anyone, especially if they get home field through the playoffs...but I think if they have to play the 49ers that it may end the Falcons playoff hopes.

When Matt Ryan grows a pair, and can score more than 2 points in the playoffs!

Dream on dawg!

IMO, any one of those teams could beat anyone of the other teams on any given day. I'd probably only bet on the Packers and Giants beating the Falcons at this point. And, the Giants could still miss the playoffs.

You wouldn't bet on the Niners to beat them? I certainly wouldn't bet on the Giants to beat them. I know they say the Giants turn it on come playoff time, but there's only so many times that works. They just don't look as good.

I think them and the Packers would be a decent matchup. I think the Niners would beat them pretty badly.

While the playoffs don't start today, IF they started today, it would be:

1-ATL
2-San Fran
3-Green Bay
4-Washington
5-Seattle
6-Minnesota

WC: MIN@GB, SEA@WAS

If both home teams win, ATL faces WAS. If MIN wins, ATL faces MIN. If MIN loses and SEA wins, ATL faces SEA. Worst case scenario for ATL is for GB and SEA to win, IMO. I don't think they want to face SEA.

But let's say GB wins and ATL beats either WAS or SEA. In that scenario, they go against the winner of GB/SF. Yes, it's at home for the Falcons, but just like SEA, SF is a bad matchup (IMO) for the Falcons. GB would be their best shot to making the SB.

If it gets that far.

Didn't the Falcons win by 10?? Also, throw out the record books when NO plays ATL, outside of the Packers, I think NO would be the most difficult team for ATL to beat on the NFC side in the playoffs (for various reason, mainly bc NO is just in our head).

I actually feel really good about ATL this year and by really good I mean I think we can win a playoff game

I think GB is a toss up but would pick GB to beat us. Hoping that GB/SF end up on 1 side of the bracket and take one out.

From the AFC, HOU/NE/DEN would all be tough. I would probably pick NE to beat ATL, not DEN or HOU.

I really disagree with the Niners, I just don't think they are that good. pretty inconsistent and I just don't think Kaepernick will get it done @ ATL if it came to it. Rodgers scares me much more.

I'm not sure why SF is so overlooked here. I think that D would smother y'all offense. That pass rush is pretty crazy.

Kaepernick isn't what you have to worry about. It's Aldon Smith and that defense.

Our D would probably intercept Kaepernick 3 times.

ETA our offense would do enough to outscore them.

I seriously doubt that.

Everyone is dismissing the fact that the Saints will sneak in the playoffs and beat the Falcons in the divisional round.

I'm not sure how you can pick any first year starting QB going on the road in a playoff game. I think I laid out a pretty simple reason why I would pick Green Bay and the Giants. They have proven, Super Bowl winning QBs on their roster.

Eli Manning - 9 seasons, 5 years in the playoffs, 11 playoff games and 2 Super Bowls.
Aaron Rodgers - 8 seasons (5 as the starter), 3 years in the playoffs, 6 playoff games, and 1 Super Bowl
Colin Kaepernick - 2 seasons, (5 games as a starter), 0 experience in the playoffs

So, I'm just thinking that Eli Manning and Aaron Rodgers would have a slightly better shot of success against the Falcons than Colin Kaepernick would. They've both played more seasons in the NFL than games that Kaepernick has started. I think my position is pretty logical.

apparently we are crazy for thinking kaepernick would struggle against a team that is 34-4 at home with smith/ryan
