Not sure why it's controversial

People dont think things through, this is a classic example of that.

Detroit lost nothing on the run off that they would have had if the refs got it right the 1st time.

ATL would have actually lost something if they didn't run time off.

Well that PI gave them ball at the 1-yard line instead of back at the 35 or whatever. So yeah, I'm going to call those equal. But now that you think of it, the PI might have been a worse call.

in what universe is a runoff justified there?

worst NFL rule in existence?

if called as down by contact... the clock would've kept running

since the clock was stopped by the original call on the field... and the reversal makes it a a call where the clock should've kept running... it takes time off the clock that's assumed to have been able to come off the clock via regular sequence of play

I mean, I dont really care either way now that I live in Atlanta and its the hometown team.

But only a falcons homer or someone who wants to bitch about saints fans would think how that last play happened didnt frick over the lions and was pretty dumb.

It's logical.

Why should ATL get screwed because the refs made a bad call?

yeah what in the frick is that about? it literally makes no sense
If Detroit got another down and scored, that would have been absolute robbery. 10 seconds is conservative, it already takes long enough for receivers and linemen to line up with the clock running.

Injustice would have been a stopped clock. The rule is perfectly written.

The run off is absurd to me. If you call it short, fine. A run off is ridiculous. Let them run that last play, which would just be a QB sneak and a score

Sounds like that would be ridiculous to allow them a free play due to a bad call.

There should not be a clock run off when the play is automatically reviewed. Challenge? Sure. Part of the scoring review process? No way in hell

More and more games seem to be decided by refs than the players. What a shame.

And if you give them another play then no one in the world would NOT think ATL was fricked over on a dumb rule, at least no one thinking logically.

If that's called short live no way they get another play off in 8 secs. The booing Lions fans just salty

When the entire team is near the goal line they could have easily lined up in 4-5 seconds. They got screwed.

So DET just gets a free play they wouldn't have gotten if the call was correct and ATL gets fricked over due to a bad call against them?

That makes sense...how?

Also can anyone explain how DET was fricked over in any legit way? If the correct call was made as it happened the game would have ended the exact same way, on that play short of the goalline.
