He is a much less effective pitcher when he's sitting at 94 like he was last night. He seems to have lost some of the life on his pitches this season.

His velocity overall has been fine. He has already said before earlier in the season that he has been toning down his velocity in a couple of starts to try to go deeper in the game.

Strider is fine.

He gave up 2 runs in his last start. How exactly is that shitty?

The '23 Mets were designed to have a dominant rotation, which was to be the backbone of the team. So far this season, they rank 26th in starting pitcher ERA, at 4.93.

It hasn't though. He's thrown more fastballs under 97 than over 97 in his last 4 starts.

Gotcha.

But I'm not gonna worry about it unless he physically says that he has arm/elbow pain.

Absolutely loved chipper, smoltz and Glav in the booth tonight.

I would pay to watch a once a week Manningcast style broadcast with them in the booth. Bring in various other former players (Doggie, Javy, Crime Dog, Justice) and reminisce/roast each other.

It'll probably only be a once/twice a year thing as they probably have to work around Smoltzie's schedule.

But last night was great.

He still had 8 strikeouts.

Strider is obviously most effective when he’s throwing faster, but even after that disaster he still has a 3.5 ERA which is excellent.

He’s still a starting quality guy and leads the NL in strikeouts.

Let’s not forget he broke records already.

The Mets have always been a bad matchup for him b/c they don't strike out and grind out AB's. It is what it is.

Notice that the thread hasn't been anchored yet. Our resident Muts mod has either given up or been told to cease and desist.
