Holy shite, you're the one who got mad at me when I said Olson should be moved down in the order.

When? I have wanted him moved down to 4th in the order for a while myself.

This is the most idiotic post I have ever read

Riley is a stud at 3rd base - he has made a lot of incredible plays and he’s been a beast at the plate. The dude has a few bad / off games and you want to claim that he has been bad this season?

You are a fricking moron

He's had a bad season defensive season. Volfan listed every defensive metric there is, and Riley has sucked in all of them. Riley has always had terrible range, but he has a great arm. If he's making errors then his arm can't make up as much for his terrible range, which makes him a bad fielder. You being homer about it (along with Steeler) doesn't change that fact.

At no point in his career has Riley been a defensive stud at 3B, at best he's been average to slightly above average. He's currently 14th in MLB for WAR for 3B with 1 WAR, he has not been good at all.

Kolby Allard gave up 1 hit over 4 scoreless innings in his Gwinnett debut tonight.

Could be a long relief option down the line

I have watched almost every single game this season and you guys are making it sound like he can’t catch a routine ground ball. He has been fine at 3rd base.

Has he made a few errors? Of course. Every player in baseball makes errors. Is he the best 3rd basemen on the history of the league? Not even close. Is he good at 3rd base? Absolutely.

So annoyed by so called Braves fans demand 100% perfection, 100% of the time. They are human beings. But to say that he sucks at 3rd base is laughable.

He might not be the best at that position but he sure as hell is not the worst.

Some fans get enamored with metrics and forget what they see. Riley is a solid third baseman.

Well he ain't moving to LF or primary DH like you and the rest of the SABR nerds(and I mean that as a compliment) want so this argument is pretty much for naught.

Now this I agree with.

He's a much better hitter in the cleanup spot then in the 3 hole.

Well apparently you aren't paying very good attention, because Riley has the most errors of any 3B in baseball. And he's always been graded poorly for range, by actual baseball scouts, which is a wee bit better than your eye test.

I personally don't expect him to be perfect, but for the money we are paying him long-term we need him to be .800+ OPS with average defense to be worth his contract. Right now he's not doing that, and he hasn't been doing that pretty much since he signed the contract.

It's not like he's been awful this year overall, he just hasn't been good either. Right now the value of 1 WAR is around 8 mil or so, and he's on pace for about 2 WAR, so he isn't performing to the long term value of his contract.

It's not like I want him off the team, he just shouldn't be hitting 3rd right now unless/until he gets it going again. And it's a concern for the long term with his contract.

I've been a Braves fan since the early 80s and seen a lot of ebbs and flows, gonna call things like they are, not how I want them to be.

Everyone in here trying to prove they are the bigger Braves fan is so sad. It’s a fricking message board guys.

Anyway, we just traded Yacksel Rios to Oakland for cash

I want Aguilar in the dugout immediately. I don't care who has to be sent down.

I would not change a single thing about this new lineup. We just scored 40 runs with 50 hits in FOUR games with this new lineup. Riley will be fine.

Trash move. But not unexpected from the Braves.

I can't say I really understand your love for him since he hasn't been great in a long while, but I wouldn't mind him coming up once Murphy is healthy just to give Olson a day off occasionally. I think Olson and Riley could both benefit from the occasional day off.

And this I can definitely get behind. Yates walks the world and Heller looked good.

I need to see more of Heller against better offenses than the Rockies on the road without their best hitter. There has to be a reason he was DFA'd by the Rays with an ERA over 3 in AAA as a reliever.

But so far, he's been great.

My sons team beats his sons team fairly handily this afternoon as well. Charlie and his dad were both there to watch it.
