The development of Strider’s change up is very promising. If he truly adds that as a viable pitch he can throw 10-15% of the time … good luck hitters.

Great inning. Bring him back out for the 5th, but get somebody up. I’m sure they already are.

Do you let Strider come back for the 5th? Middle of lineup coming up for third time.

Yes

If he can get his changeup usage up, he'll win a Cy Young.

Strider fighting to come back out. Love it.

Really need Riley to stop sucking.

Riley is going to flip it this year. Let the rest of the guys carry first half and then ball out second half all the way through World Series.

No doubt, he'll be unreal with a solid change.

There has been a very clear line of demarcation for Riley. He has not been the same hitter since the day he signed his contract.

Which is weird because he doesn't seem like a guy that would stop working hard because he got paid.
Maybe it's the pressure of living up to the contract, or maybe it's just a crazy coincidence. I really have no idea.
I send Strider to start the 6th against the bottom half of their lineup.

He keeps leaning over the plate and trying to pull outside pitches. If he would just go the other way, he'd change the way they have to pitch him. He was going the other way during his hot year and a half stretch, before he signed that contract, and his whole approach seemed to regress. Thought for a minute he was getting out of that, but he's back to leaning and pulling.

Wholeheartedly agree with this. I don't think for one second that he's dogging it or resting on his laurels, even though it's human nature to relax once you're set for life.

It’s this. I don’t think his contract status has anything to do with it.
He wasn’t going to keep first half 2022 pace up. But his talent is better than the results we are seeing right now. I’m confident he will settle somewhere in the middle.

Exactly. And he’s obviously working because he continues to get better at 3B. Will always lack range, but if it’s hit anywhere around him, he’s a vacuum over there. Makes some really impressive backhand plays too.

I think this is the most likely case.

with a high pitch count in a condensed period of only 5 innings, I would be very surprised to see him come back out. If he feels good, I'd let him at least face another hitter, but I don't expect it to happen.

You guys are crazy, he's at 107 pitches and had fatigue issues at the end of last season. He's the last pitcher we need going 120 pitches. That's some Dusty Baker run your young guys into the ground crap.
