We’ve somehow won the Wheeler starts the last two years despite him absolutely shoving against us both times.

What’s your point? Momentum. It’s real. Your teammates start smashing, and you get up to
Plate, you want to as well. It’s human nature

Crazy we won the Wheeler Truist game in such a big spot.

He was absolutely incredible tonight. He made one bad pitch and TDA made him pay for it. It has to be demoralizing to know that you have to throw a perfect pitch damn near every time you're on the mound.

Momentum In baseball is a thing.

In an individual game, sure. It just doesn’t carry over to the next day. We have no “momentum” going into Wednesday. We do have less pressure, though.

And Broski, when I say the pressure shifted drastically, I don’t mean that it’s all on them now or even more on them, necessarily, just that it may have gone from being 99% on us to 60-65% on us. But even that number could change again drastically either way by the end of the 2nd inning. But whatever percentage you’d put on us, it gets lower and lower the longer the game goes with us not losing.

Ehhh, I’m not sure about that. They are still in a good spot getting a split.

Of course. If you could have told them before the series that they’d be tied 1-1 going back to Philly with Nola going against Elder, they would have taken it. But it’s how they arrived in this spot that may—may—stick in the back of their minds in a potential close game the longer it stays close.

Of course, they’ve dominated like 15 of 18 innings so far, and they could win the next 2 games by a combined 20-2 and run our 104-win asses right out the playoffs and dance all over our graves. Tonight may not wind up mattering at all. We’ll fricking find out, though. And I’m soooo here for it.

I don’t think I know what momentum is if that win isn’t momentum.

We all agree the cold bats are a problem but that win was amazing.

This feels gross but I’d really like the dodgers to win one so we don’t have to play game 4 at 8pm instead of 6.

Just so we’re all clear I’m starting the game 3 thread and keeping “We’re fricked” in the thread title.

We outscored them 5-0 since I changed the title.

Just forewarning everyone now

Absolutely. I started game 2 vs milwaukee in 2021 and we won and then started everyone after that for the playoffs. When we win, you keep it going until we’re out or win it all. It’s all on you now Broski. And I’m even ok with you starting it before the lineup like today… which has always been against the ATL thread rules.

Feels like Arizona has missed several chances to put the Dodgers away tonight

Just got back from the game. Most electricity in Truist since the Rosario homer and Matzek inning imo. Maybe I’m underselling the Dansby/Soler B2B game and Duvall grand slam but I don’t think so.

AA mentioned before the series that there’s a good chance we don’t see see a traditional starter in game 3. Have to think it will be Hand to deal with Schwarber and Harper in the 1st, right?

It better not be. That’s way “too cute” and reeks again of desperation. It has to either be Elder or AJSS. Either or super short leashes.

How is it cute? The name of the game is limiting AJSS/Elder exposure to Schwarber and Harper I would think.

We have seen Minter/Lee/Davidson open postseason games. It would be pretty on brand for this front office to use Hand in this spot. It would be nice if we had another lefty but we don’t. You can get Hand out and the bulk guy in as soon as Harper hits.

I’m not against an opener but considering we are going to likely need the pen to cover from the 5th inning, I like the idea of having Hand available to face Schwarber/Harper in possible higher leverage spots later in the game.

Really would’ve been nice if Lee could’ve gotten healthy and sharp. Would be a no brainer opener in this spot.

Harris II/Riley/Olson gave Metro Atlanta its next area code overlay last night -

8-5-3

also - this looks like another Michael who wore #23 and took a few memorable post-season flights in his career -
