We should have traded Ian when he had some value.

When he had some value he was a key component in the rotation of a playoff contending team. So I disagree completely.

He had value post-2021.

Grissom 3-3 today with a 2B and 3 RBI. He's hitting .571 so far in the spring.

ETA: But yeah, Ian got rocked with 2 HR given up. More importantly though is that he had 3 BB in 1.1 IP and didn't really throw his slider.

I can't take him seriously anymore if he struggled last season in MLB, got sent down, struggled in AAA and still didn't feel the need to exclusively work on adding a 3rd pitch in the offseason and spring.

Shuster made his spring debut today and went 2 scoreless innings, giving up just one hit. Didn't get any strikeouts, but didn't walk anyone either.

He doesn't have a pitch that could be graded as an 70+ like Anderson's changeup, but he has a full arsenal of pitches coming from the left side. I think we see him make a spot start this season and possibly used out of the pen in the 2nd half of the season. I'm very high on him, not as a top end rotation guy, but someone who can definitely help us in the immediate and distant future.

LOL at writing him off in his 1st spring training start while he's working on a new pitch.

Now if he's still struggling at the end of ST, then it'll be time to worry.

And post 2021 he was a key component of a rotation for a team looking to repeat…until he wasn’t.

When he had trade value, he was equally as valuable to the Braves and was needed.

He's not working on it. That's a problem.

From his stat line, it doesn't look like he's worked on anything. Just have to hope he improves or next man up.

Nah, the "should have traded when he had value" guy that will likely never be topped was Julio Teheran. I remember seeing that the Yankees offered Severino and other prospects for him, the Red Sox supposedly offered Devers but who knows if thats accurate.

It seems to me like Ian hasn't really been the same guy since his mid-season 2021 shoulder issues. Yeah, he had an unreal World Series start, but even in that game, he threw more balls than strikes. No idea if he's having shoulder issues or if opponents have just figured him out.

Meh, even when he came up in 2020, he was a high pitch count guy. Maybe the shoulder issues played a part, but I think it had more to do with MLB teams adjusting accordingly to a guy who has two pitches after enough data was collected on him. We all know that baseball is a game of constant adjustments, but it doesn't feel like Ian feels the need to adjust. It blew my mind last season watching him get through the 3 innings at 60 pitches and then come back for his next start with the same pitch sequencing, which led to a similar result.

Teheran was a little different. That was in the middle of the rebuild. Trading Anderson when we were coming off a WS would have been very ballsy. We were starting Muller/Elder/Odorizzi/etc last year even with IA.

There was no reason to think we needed to trade Ian after 2021. That's some serious hindsight. I would try to trade him now though and see if there is some team out there that think he just needs a change of scenery.

I do wonder if we trotted him out there as a potential trade chip this past offseason in hopes of getting a SS and OF.

Both Allard and Dodd looked good today against a Mets lineup that was mostly their starters.

Grissom continues to be solid at the plate. He's now hitting .556 this spring. Ozuna still sucks, 0-3 day brought him down to .111.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Ozuna doesn't make this team.

The 3 OF the Braves brought in - Eli White, Sam Hilliard and Jordan Luplow are all more versatile and appear to be hungry.

I bet 1 of them makes the team over Ozuna.

What do you guys think?

If he continues to be total dead weight at the plate, I don't think the Braves will have much of a choice.

I've never been in a fantasy baseball league but I set FanDuel DFS lineups every day of the season, so I'm interested. How many people are you trying to get?
