I’d be fine with that but I wouldn’t trade him unless we can get some seriously good return value.

Like I said his ceiling is an elite 5 tool player with 30/50 potential

The plan for him if we keep him imo should be pick up ozzies option for next season, then have him as the plan to take over for ozzie as our starting 2B after that.

He could also play LF when needed too and if Harris ever got injured would be someone on the roster actually capable of playing CF until he is back at a high level too

Olson seems like a good guy and I'm not saying we need to get rid of him but I've never been a fan of players with long swings,

This was my major concern with signing Olson to an 8 year deal once we traded for him (beyond the fact we could have just signed Freddie to 6 years and not spent prospects). Guys with swings like his don't tend to age well, so while I'm not saying we should trade him, with the right package it wouldn't be a terrible idea.

I just don’t see anything to gain by trading Olson unless we are going to commit to a full tear down and rebuild it all from the ground floor which doesn’t make sense imo for where are roster is right now. You’re not going to be able to get anywhere close to a player that can replicate his value especially at his price.

It makes way more sense for us to do a fairly major overhaul but not a total tear down. Sale wants to pitch at least two more seasons, we have two elite leverage arms in the pen with Didi and Suarez at least and imo Dodd could become one, Lee may or may not ever get back to his first year self this year.

We have Harris who is entering his prime and looks like is about to breakout into full on superstar level with a little more work at the plate discipline.

I’d 100% support trading Acuna and with his amount of control we could get a solid haul back in return and I think the idea I floated earlier piggy backing off VA to go after Elly and Hunter Green in a package would be huge. Taking Green would be a risk since he is currently injured but in 24 and 25 before he got hurt he was a sub 3 ERA starter both years good for 150 IP a year and averaged almost 10ks per 9 both seasons

If you could pull that trade off and somehow bring Mahle back as well a top 3 rotation arms of Sale Greene Mahle is elite

Green is also signed through 2028 on a 6/53 deal which is quite cheap with a team option for 2029. I think the Reds would be interested in doing this as well because they’re not going to pay Elly so they will need to trade him eventually and could get a massive haul from us right now. Maybe even one including Acuna. Either way we definitely have the prospect capital, draft assets, and now that we will be out of our punishment phase the international pool money to make a very attractive offer to them and finally get our franchise SS and an all star level starter if he returns to his prior level
