Luke Jackson looks like he wears Heelys and listens to New Found Glory

Cool hand Luke with another close one. We are a couple plays from being 3-0 or 0-3 this series. Ill take the 2-1 tbh.

I’m fine with him being on the team but not the damn closer. Bad luck. How bout the good luck today.

I read that Fangraphs article when it first came out and thought that it was beautifully stated by someone who doesn’t watch Luke Jackson pitch every night

Sure his slider is nasty, but it’s premature to say this dude is worthy of closing games for a division leading, World Series contending team. Especially considering he has blown 6 saves this year and has been DFA’d without claim 3 times in the last 18 months

What a beautiful way to go into all star break.

They discuss his blown saves this year in detail and the matter of how they came, and if you are upset with him about what happened today you clearly have an agenda. The bases were loaded on two infield hits and a bunt that popped up over everyone’s head.

I have no issue with saying we need back end bullpen help, but Jackson is our best reliever and clearly the coaches agree.

He was absolutely unlucky today. Got two weak grounders that found perfect spots and a popup bunt that couldn't be replicated if the guy tried to do so. He also got incredible luck with Culberson making one of the best throws you'll ever see considering he caught it on the run and was falling away from home plate.

I disagree with this. I think Newcomb has clearly been the best reliever since he's been in the bullpen. He's been one of the best in all of baseball.

no...Jackson became closer by default back when the pen was a hot mess. Newcomb, Webb, and Swarzak have all been better relief pitchers in their roles, but just because Luke has remained as the closer doesn't mean the staff thinks he's their best pitcher out there. you could easily argue that they simply like all of the guys in the roles they currently hold and don't want to disrupt things by shuffling them around.

I bet they still think he's the best pitcher in the pen as of today based off of analytics (Webb's ain't so hot).

but his argument is that he thinks they do because he is the closer, which just isn't true.
