At the end of the day who gets more credit for the Pats? Brady or Belichick

At one point or another these two aren't going to be on the same team anymore, and while there is no telling how long their careers will go on without each other, unless they happen to retire at the same time, I was wondering who might be attributed more to the success of the Patriots over the last 10+ years. Or perhaps their names will always be synonymous with one another?

We've never seen Brady without Belichick in the NFL, but perhaps one day the Pats will cut their losses and Brady will finish his years out at another team. (ie Manning, Montana)

However we do have some examples of Belichick's record without Brady. A 36-44 record and 1 playoff appearance with the Brown. 16-16 in 2 seasons with the Pats where Brady didn't play (although that 11-5 record in 2008 is usually a playoff worthy record and sometimes will win a team a division)

With that said Belichick is a 3X coach of the year and currently 6th on the all time wins list and only 2 more wins will put him in 5th.

Tom Brady of course has a couple of MVPs, SB MVPs, Offensive Player of the Year awards, etc. and has 19 playoff wins, the most all time.

Together these two have 8 AFC title game appearances, 5 AFC titles, and 3 Super Bowls. So at the end of the day will either get more credit for the Pats success or will just we have to wait until they depart from one another?

We had a good run of no Peyton/Brady threads.

I was coming into the thread basically to write all of the things you did about Belichick's background pre-Tom.

So, IMO, Brady should get the credit, but they'll probably be held synonymously in history.

Belichick is a pretty average coach without him, but will be held among the highest of all time all because he had a superstar QB, that no one saw coming, land in his lap.

The problem with these threads is in order to give praise to one, they feel the need to tear down the other

People for some reason can grasp the concept that two different people can both be great

Actually the idea wasn't to credit one and discredit the other. That's part of the reason I listed both their individual accomplishments and didn't title the thread "Who was greater?" (ie like an all-time QB thread) The idea was to recognize the greatness of both but was just trying to get a feel on who history will credit more. Also, if you read the OP, I said will their legacies be synonymous with one another so I was trying to once again imply the greatness of both.

I'm sorry do you actually have threads that are "useful" to you?

eta: You'll also notice that I didn't bash either Brady or Belichik in the OP because I wasn't trying to say "People think both these guys are great, but I think its only one, here is why one of these guys actually sucks"

So you mean him and every other great coach?

ETA: and i think Belichick should get 51% and Brady 49%

obviously completely IMO..

Belichick is the nucleus of the relationship. He made Tom Brady. He molded him. People love to tell the story of Brady being an undervalued talent, but that is not the case. He was an average talent that was molded into an exceptional player by the greatest football coach of all time.

If you take Brady away now, and put him on another team, he will still be excellent. But if you draft him to a different team, without CBB, he is nobody. Definitely not in the league anymore.
