So where is ALL-WORLD J.R. Towles gonna play? I am so tired of my Astro buddies sucking that dude off.

The term "blah" doesn't seem anywhere strong enough.

Cool. Thanks.

Maybe if he was used to give leadership to the young players on the team. However, since the average age on the Astros roster is 46, I don't see him helping out much.

You don't see him helping to much? Catcher was our weakest field position and we upgraded with this signing. Of course it is going to help.

How much are we paying him? What kind of starter could we have gotten for that money?

At the expense of getting your best prospect some playing time. There is no way in hell the Astros contend for the playoffs this season, so why not let Towles take his lumps and get some experience behind the plate?

It's a greeat pickup because we had a black hole at catcher. We at least have someone who can play the position now. Before he was traded to the Yankees for the 33 games he played with them he hit .295 and sluged .417 in 88 games with Detroit so don't act like he is a shite catcher.

Cause towles is not our best prospect.

ETA: castro is the catcher after this season so there is no reason to give towles any playing time

The astros could sign Lance Parrish right now and he would be an upgrade over their current "prospects". and I"m an AStros fan.

You guys have another catcher in your farm system that's supposed to be better than Towles?

Already?
Didn't he just get drafted last year?
