does this really matter for the super bowl?

We were down in New Orleans for the '95 Texas-Virginia Tech Sugar Bowl and the 2010 NCAA First Round Tournament.
Although I haven't been for a Super Bowl, I'll agree with just my two experiences with these two events. New Orleans is the best place to host. The accommodations are more than abundant. New Orleans has plenty of hotels, inns, guest houses, bed and breakfasts to host all. The Super Dome's proximity to the French Quarter is superb. You don't need to rent a car and you really only need to catch a cab to and from the airport. New Orleans open container law allows the entire downtown/French Quarter to be an open, roaming tailgate. The food is great, the music is great, the entertainment and nightlife is great. Also, New Orlean's temperature is pretty mild in the wintertime.
The only issues with New Orleans are 1.) The safety and 2.) The airport. The safety is pretty abysmal, but given the size of the event, I see no reason why one should feel unsafe unless they are travelling alone or wander off after too many beers in the Quarter. The airport really isn't that big of an issue, but more than likely, you'll have to make some connections.

If it wasn't so cold, Nashville would be another great city to host. You can stay in all the hotels downtown, party on Broadway, and simply walk across the pedestrian bridge to get into the stadium.

It couldn't be in NOLA this year. It's Mardi Gras weekend.

After reading, i kinda have to agree with it.
I am a local and loyal to Louisiana and I disagree. New Orleans should be in a permanent 4-city rotation with Miami, Los Angeles, and a random site.
I am admittedly butthurt that New Orleans or Miami were rejected for 50 for Bay Area, and New Orleans was rejected for its tricentennial for Minneapolis, only because the NFL has turned the host city competition into "The Annual Roger Goodell Award Rewarding Corporate Welfare."

i get that it does more good than harm but i dont see it really mattering. the super bowl could be in el paso and hundreds of millions of people are still going to watch it. location means very little in those terms

that really pisses me off. I'm rooting for an epic blizzard in Minny that week

I hope a blizzard makes US bank Stadium cave in just like the Metrodome.
Just kidding, that'd be crazy.

Every Super Bowl should be in NOLA and every Final Four in Indy. Not sure about CFP.
That's the easy one.
Every CFB Championship game should be in the Rose Bowl...starting at 2pm and ending in the gloaming.

Pasadena is great but still second to NOLA. It's beautiful. but there's just not enough there too far outside the city.

Westwood is great.
Most of LA though just never ends...one big scrawl down to Disneyland - one day LA and San Diego will merge.
But the Rose Bowl (for me) is the perfect setting for college football's biggest game...and yes, it should start in the afternoon.
NOLA and Miami are obviously the best for pro football and for tourists and fans.
This Super Bowl will be a nightmare at the Niners stadium. Hwy 101 is a giant pot-hole and already crowded...people commuting from S.F. and north from Carmel and Santa Cruz will face crazy gridlock.

I've also been to Miami, Phoenix, and NOLA. Miami sucks as a location, it's even more remote from the happening parts of the city.
Tailgating, and experiencing the atmosphere outside is a huge facet of College football.

the setting is great but the location is terrible. getting to the rose bowl was way too much of a hassle for us. the surrounding area is also very meh in terms of entertainment

Been to two Rose Bowls and lived in Westwood for about 3 months.
I know Pasadena as well.
NFL won't go back unless an LA team.
But families, would certainly sign-up for a Super Bowl week in LA with Disneyland, Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, Hollywood, the beaches, etc.
