Will play a Pac 12 team

Gotta give credit where it's due, for all their screw ups over the years the Indy bowl committee got it right locking down a team when the pickings could end up being slim by the end of season.

Is there no such concept as bowl eligibility this year?

So we know who LSU plays to end the season.

Neat!

In all seriousness, why didn't the bowl reach out and push for Air Force over Army?

With Barksdale there in Shreveport and another AFB in Central Arkansas, that's kind of the logical matchup if you want an Academy in the game.

Army is contracted with the bowl. They signed an agreement few years ago where they go to specific bowls in years eligible.

They have a bowl tie in with Army every other year, given Army is bowl eligible. With Army getting their 6th win they made it official today. Not bad business with how many schools may struggle (cough LSU cough) to have winning records this season.

And honestly, the vast majority of airmen at Barksdale never went to the Academy nor care about them.

It’s crazy to think a team has accepted a bowl invite to play another team that hasn’t played a game yet.

I don’t think it’s the first time. Didn’t Penn St accept a invite from a bowl game before the season started years back? Or am I making that up? Maybe Blockbuster bowl

Yes they accepted a Blockbuster bowl before year started. Played Stanford coached by Bill Walsh who retired after the game
