doesn't arenas have the potential to make even more money with a buyout from washington + a new contract with another team?

I guess it depends on the size of the buyout, but I'd imagine his market value has dropped a good bit. Just look at the posts in here, people are literally acting like he got away with murder. Who's going to want to bring that circus into their locker room? Look at Michael Vick. He's no longer able to command the marquee value he once had.

Anybody who read the report the Wahsington Post(i believe) did would see that Crittenton is the one thats actually getting off right now.

Crittenton brought guns to the locker room, cocked one and basically said he'd shoot Arenas. He then threw the gun across the locker room.

Arenas, in what was a terrible move, decided he'd take the heat for Crittenton and basically took all the initial blame becuase he knew Crittenton(being a scrub player) would be done in the league.

Arenas should be punished for bringing guns also though, dont get me wrong

He's been suspended indefinitely without pay, so yes, he's really losing money. He was scheduled to make $16 million this season and is due almost $80 million more in next 4 season.

I just don't think you can assume he'll be able to command a max deal anymore.

He has singlehandedly caused a team to be blown up, will forever be attached to a "gun incident", hasn't played most of a season since 2006, and the numbers he was putting up in 32 games this year 22 ppg are a significant decline from his production in 2006 of 28 ppg. Throw in the impending lockout and new CBA and you'd have to be crazy to throw a big long term deal at a 28 year old who has only played in 47 games in the last 3 years due to injury or stupidity.

I don't see a problem with it.

The weapons were supposedly not loaded.
The weapons were supposedly not brandished.

It was a harmless joke. The guns might as well have been a couple of rocks sitting in his locker.

Crittenton supposedly brandished a loaded weapon. Now that deserves legal punishment.

don't know if it was loaded or not, but it's still in a public place where anybody has access to it, if I'm Plaxico Buress I'm pissed off because you send me to prison, but let this clown off.

Loaded concealed weapon in a club. I consider that a lot different.

The lockerroom is a public place, but it is not public to the general population.

Arenas isn't a thug, but he is a dumbass. I'm fine with the sentencing. He took a hit to his pocket from this whole fiasco, hopefully he grows up, but who knows with this guy.

I still have to do a double take when I see Arenas and jail time in the same sentence. Worse yet, Javy and Gilbert are related.

Javy should serve some jail time for the All-American and All-SEC honors that he stole from the more deserving Patrick Peterson.

He's looking like a second or third round pick. I think he proved he's pretty deserving of those. Regardless, his return abilities got those more than anything.
